Title: What are known songs from All Eyez On Me sessions that didn't make the album?
Post by: TraceOneInfinite on August 05, 2014, 09:28:31 AM
I think a lot of the great 2pac unreleased cuts were intended for the One Nation album, right?   I think tracks like "Soon As I Get Home" O.G. and "Play Your Cards" O.G., "Still I Rise" O.G. were all recorded for OneNation?

...anyway, what are some of the best cuts that didn't make All Eyez On Me?

i would'nt say "filler".

Some cuts don't maked the album because sample clearance .

Tracks like "Play Your Cardz Right" ... " Late Night " and Where U Been...they are hot as hell .

But Alicia Myers,Donald Byrd and Michael Jackson samples don't be cleared in time for AEOM release .

So "Play Your Cards Right" was origionally intended for All Eyez On Me?  That would of fit great on the album, possibly my favorite unreleased Pac song of all-time.  And of course I'm talking about the Outlawz version not that wack Keysia Coles version.

It makes sense, since it was a cut involving Big Syke, Mopreme (who stopped hanging out at Death Row probably around the time the album got released, hence him only recording a few songs with Pac) and K-Ci & JoJo (as it could've been near the recording session involving How Do U Want It.

I thought M.O.B. was said to have also been during the AEOM recording sessions.  Some people have also said Don't Fall Asleep, but I think that they're mistaken.

It makes good sense if WHERE U BEEN and PLAY YOUR CARDS RIGHT were recorded for All Eyez On Me. Pac clearly wanted some long posse cuts to be on the album (like When We Ride and Tradin War Storiez). It's crazy to think how much better AEOM would have been if Play Your Cards Right were on disc 2 instead of Run Tha Streetz. Where U Been would have been a nice track on the album as well, appropriate for the "fresh out of jail" theme.

I believe that Secretz of War and Ride 4 Me were recorded for AEOM. When Pac got out of jail, it was clear that he thought Fatal was dope and was recording lots of tracks with him. Fatal and Felony were by far the best group that went into the Outlawz. So probably Secretz of War (Kurupt, Fatal, Felony), All About U (Fatal, Felony, Snoop), and Ride 4 Me (Fatal, Kurupt) were all recorded around the same time, in AEOM sessions.

What about Just Watchin' ? Was it pre or post AEOM ? Since it features Charlie Wilson and also since Snoop mentions Doggystyle Records (I think?) it could be post AEOM

Where U Been was recorded in November 95.

And Play Your Cardz Right January 96.

AEOM tracklist was finished in half January

Just Watching isn't for AEOM.

Possibly Doggfather or One Nation album.

Its' Fev . 96 record

All About and Secretz of War was recorded around the same time .

Ride 4 Me was recorded 6 months after.

technically Don't Fall Asleep was one of the first songs recorded.

Daz was the first producer who came into the studio with Pac, after he got out of jail.

Daz was at Can-Am studios...and 2pac called to Johnny J..they all went to the studio that day

That was later as its a Kurt Kobane production and Pac didn't start banging MOB till summer 96. <Cue that guy that runs in asking if Jmix knows that>

But that wasn't necessarily Daz's one and only studio session (or string of sessions) with Pac.

Well, not exactly, Pac was mentioning it much earlier than that.  The AEOM booklet says "Money Over Bytchez" or something in the thank yous, plus when he performed on SNL (February 1996), he said "West Side, M.O.B., Outlawz, we out."  And didn't Pac say "Fuck 'em all, West Side, M.O.B., nigga" in the outro to Don't Fall Asleep?  That kind of already makes me doubt it being recorded as early as some people claim it to be.  The first person who I remember claimed that Don't Fall Asleep was an AEOM leftover was Dante, and I thought he based that solely on the footage he ended up putting out on that RM2 where they are filming Hit 'Em Up but songs are playing from AEOM, then you hear Don't Fall Asleep... but it's not like it couldn't have just been a mix that Pac put together and was just bumping.
