Could Dre get Crooked I to pop/ drop a classic album?
-
Then Crook would have sat on the shelf even longer than he did.
-
that was in the talks in 99, now it's way too late for that and I don't see why Dre would do that
-
Assuming you're referring to the talk that Dr. Dre was going to sign Crooked I to Aftermath back in the late 90s/early 2000s, then I think so.
If a solo project by Crooked I was given backing by Dre and green-lighted by the record labels overseeing it, then I think he would have been in the same lane as 50 Cent was back when 'Get Rich' came out. Although I think that Crooked would have appealed, as he does now, to die-hard rap fans as opposed to casual fans, and I'm not sure if he would have had as much commercial success.
Interesting to think what could have been though.
-
Dre a bitch ... crooked needs to return to his roots nigga drop west coast album over gfunk beats.
-
if dre wanted to sign crooked he'd done it by now. not gonna happen.
-
Dre wanted to sign Crooked back when he was working on "2001" but he told him then it will take some time before they could start making his record so he decided to go with Suge & Tha Row. At the end of the day, it was a right decision for Crook to make under those circumstances cause he would end up like Hittman or Bishop Lamont had he signed with Aftermath.
Now, he's on Shady so Dre's under a reach so jumping to Aftermath won't make a difference for him - let's just hope they will work together on some tracks in the near future.

I'm aware that dre may have offered him a deal. but what's dumb is that he went to death row to do what he would've been doin' at aftermath anyway: playin' the shelf. don't be mad crooked been in the game for 20 years and nothin' to show for it faggot as wigger.

I don't think he would have been in the same lane. People like to act like all Dre has to do is co-sign artists and they will be as big as 50 Cent but Fifty had already manufactured a huge buzz for himself and had all the right pieces in place to be a huge star in 2003.

yep
i.e. being considered real in the streets for the ghetto quran and then getting shot 9 x
-
If you want to be technical, since Crooked I is signed to Shady with Slaughterhouse, he is basically signed to dre too.

Then he would write for Dre, wouldn't get credits for it, and when it's all over, he would left by himself. Simple. That's Aftermath's tradition.

Nope. Shady Records is its own entity, just as G-Unit was. Also, Slaughterhouse is signed to Shady as a group, not Crooked as a solo act.
-
crooked i would of popped if dre wouldof signed him around 2003 when 50 cent & g unit was popping & got 50 cent to push him like he did game then crooked would of been in a mainstream posistion like game. Game signed at the right time.
