He had a good buzz, could rap well and had dope production. Why did it not happen for him?
-
I Agree he had a good presence, shame he didn't blew up.

he started getting too trendy and running out of bars but he was on fire from 2006-2008
-
Haven't heard any new stuff from him in years but like Bloodmoney was saying it seems like he tried too hard to follow trends and was doing that rockstar BS for a while. I remember thinking "Say Girl" could have been big had it been promoted. I don't know about "blowing up" the way Game and Kendrick did but he could have had a nice run at least, he was a pretty talented dude overall.

Great point. Can apply to most rappers. Unless you have the presence to carry a trade mark style forever (Too Short, E-40 etc) most rappers run out of material very fast
-
always thought dude was pretty good

forgot about that joint with Akon, probably the last good song I can recall from dude
-
100 Bars of Death was nothing but straight heat.
-
another trash artist that i already knew was going no where with a name like that come on thats something i expect from a south rapper
and on top of that he was 1 dimensional and sounded even worse on south beats so in conclusion he ran out of things to say bout the hood ;)

His name...
-
I don't know if it was his name. Young Thug is pretty lame as it gets & he's poppin' at the mainstream level for now.
I think he was just one of those regular West Coast artists that got lost in the shuffle. Nothing that stood out about him, no real label backing; dude just faded away.

young thug will get exposed soon enough ;)
and yeah he was just one of those regular West Coast artists that got lost in the shuffle. Nothing that stood out about him
even if he had a major backing him in his it wouldn't matter major labels will fade away in some years these days you can do all the promoting yourself tde is the best example

this mixtape was good.
-
he dropped a mixtape hosted by dj drama in like september.
he didn't blow up because he didn't put a real project out, but I don't think he had it to really blow up, not really marketable. still a good artist but not my favorite artist from Fillmoe, though.
the song with akon is dope, too bad he couldn't create enough buzz to release an album

Actually forgot about that one. Could've done well too had it gained any traction.
-
That we run la track he did was pretty big on the radio out here in LA for a while. Problem with a lot of these rappers is that they don't follow up (see: glasses malone)
-
1-weak ass name like "Ya Boy" might have something to do with it
2-not on topic but wasn't he shot a few years ago? i assume he survived?
-
He changed his name to Rich Rocka ....
this is one of his latest tracks I thought was good.
