Man he stays bitter....

word... this dude is kind of a relic of the past... he fit well into the 80's and 90's when the black power movement was still relevant, but now dude is kind of lost.  In a way I can respect that because I'm also kind of stuck in the past.  But so much of what he says is bullshit.

Not a Lord Jamar fan, I feel like he's given an aura and a tribune he doesn't deserve. At the end of the day it's just another man's opinion. His make more noised cause they happen to be harsh and sometimes extreme.

However, he did make a few valid points here.

His opinion on Eminem is understandable, dude has crazy skills but a lot can't relate to what he's spitting, and that doesn't take away anything from his talent but I could never really relate to Eminem for these reasons. So I understand his being annoyed at Eminem being branded the best dude ever and I can understand his argument of him being popular because of his crazy white guy persona. But where I disagree is the "you have to have soul" argument, i think a lot of boom bap technical mc's ala Keith Murray don't necessarily put much soul in their music and focus on the technical prowess and that's fine with me, I view it as a rap subgenre that needs to exist.

I think his opinion on Macklemore is unfair, because Macklemore is a humble dude to being with, and he isn't a sell-out or a marketing product, dude comes from the independent hustle and has developed his own nice little style. at the end of the day he paid his dues. people took umbrage at the fact that he won a grammy last year and made a song about homosexuality but the blame is on the industry who favors white guys in music (nothing new under the sun) because they're more marketable. In a way I agree with what he said about record sales, don't let these fool you, but Macklemore is beyond reproach, he's not another Vanilla Ice.

also, Macklemore caught a lot of flack for making a song about same sex love, and how it's not condoned by hip hop and whatnot, but Macklemore made a song solely representing his opinions, he doesn't speak for hip hop as a genre, and there are a lot of contradicting opinions in the realm of hip hop, and there are even openly gay rappers (not too many, though, lol) I feel this type of argument is a weak godwin argument that shouldn't be thrown as "fact" as Lord Jamar likes to do but opinions. I think it's understandable to be pissed about a hit song about homos if you don't approve, accept or tolerate homosexuality, but don't use your hip hop vet card to assert your opinion like it's the Scriptures.

what they fail to mention is that it's also easier to fail as a non-black mc, because there's a bigger microscope on you, people watchin ur every move, scrutinizing, etc...it can be good or bad, but it definitely leaves u open to more criticism and a lot of the stuff that gets laughed off or labeled "corny" about non-black emcees wouldn't even be looked at twice if the rapper was black. it works both ways. at the end of the day, it should be about skill...but everythin revolves around color, and it's fine to a certain extent, but it's too much.

Especially in the 90's when Eminem was trying to make it as an emcee it was incredibly hard to make it as a white rapper.  And that is part of what made Eminem great is that he endured all of that bullshit and kept pushing harder and harder to make it until he was just so fuccin dope that he couldn't be denied anymore.

What Lord Jammar is saying is not what black people actually think but what he wishes black people actually thought.  He thinks by saying it that others will follow.  Bottom line is that he is racist, and that's why he doesn't like Eminem.  Eminem has as much soul as most black rappers... plain and simple Lord Jammar is racist, hates white people, so he hates Eminem as a rapper and as a person.

Especially because you couldn't get away with making 90% of the hits on the radio.

everything u do is automatically attached to a "corny" stigma, no matter how dope u are.....shouldnt be that way, but thats what it is. audience is lookin way closer at non-black emcees as soon as they hit the stage, on some -cynical- shit. imagine if shock g/humpty hump was white........lol. cant pull that off. the world is still racist as fuck, and cats like lord jamar are still contributing to the detrimental thought process. hip-hop is black music, and that should be respected and accepted by anyone who partakes in the culture...but it's a fact that the general public will subconsciously look down if u aint black, off top. some want it to be like that forever, but is that how it SHOULD be? to me, dope is dope. some are controlled by social programming and will never see it like that.

All a major outlet to getting on the radio and having kids saying "I love that song, he's great, when's the album dropping?".

White rappers actually have to speak English and come up with something original to be taken seriously.

Bobby Shmurda is the homie but the rest of those songs blow lol

but exactly the point, Lord Jamar need to start criticizing Black rappers since they're killing the culture far more than an Eminem or a Mackiemore ever could
