Title: DJ King Assassin To Release Unheard 2Pac Material With Above The Law

The buzz surrounding Tupac Shakur has been higher than ever recently. With his upcoming biopic in the works and his exclusive exhibit at the Grammy Museum opening up this week, the former Death Row Records artist might possibly be on an island near Tahiti sippin’ on Hennessy with a huge smile. But there’s another dedication to Pac that’s set to drop soon. Pac’s long-time friend and producer DJ King Assassin is set on releasing a new project with unreleased material from the late rapper/poet entitled The Way He Wanted It.



Assassin gathered Pac’s friends and frequent collaborators Kokane and Big Hutch of the rap group Above The Law along with German rapper Joe Young to record the latest dedication to 2Pac. The project will feature unreleased material mixed in with classics from Pac. The lead single “What Would Pac Do” features Kokane, Hutch and Young as they imagine how the West Coast rapper would be living today if he were still here. While Kokane and Hutch knew Pac personally, Kokane explained why he recruited Young for the project.

“We wanted to have an international point of view on the current situation that’s going on worldwide,” said Kokane. “So we just thought Joe would fit the record perfectly. Joe’s work ethic is undeniable.”

The project is set to drop Feb. 6. Listen to “What Would Pac Do” here.
