I was just listening to the classic "Legends" album by Above the Law and was thinking about how much I love the intro (Hutch speaking over a great beat) and thought it might be a cool topic.
I also thought about the intro to Kurupt's "Streetlights" album, which is more of a song.
Any idea what your favs might be?

Always liked the intro to the 213 album - smooth beat. Also WC & The Maad Circle's intro with the cops and the thumping beat.
And Ice T on 'Thy Kingdom Come'. There are so many great ones.

How could I forget this criminally underused waste of a beat:

agreed.
First thing that came to my mind was Doggystyle and the Chronic though. There were some other good suggestions here like Stillmatic, etc.

Redman - Dare Iz A Darkside

Mack 10's first album. The Eastsidaz intro on the 1st album wasn't nothin special but it did exactly what intros are supposed to do in my opinion, set up the 1st song. The intro flows perfectly into that 1st song.
-
Intro for second Eastsidaz's album was better

oh yeah...that 213 intro is dope

might not be my top pick but I always liked how "The Ruler's Back" set off The Blueprint despite it being a essentially Slick Rick revamp
-
I liked the intro to X-Raided "Psycho Active". Also liked the intros to Bone Thugs albums "Creepin On Ah Come Up" and "East 1999 Eternal" and Disc 2 of "Art Of War". Of course I like "Chronic", "Doggystyle", and "It's On" but wanted to add something else to the convo.
