The simple fact that J. Prince himself said that shit on a record is a serious warning. people can say what they will, but that guy is one of the most feared men in Texas and for a large part of the south. He has more money than alot of people understand and his image or 'word' being threatened, will mean people will die.

Everything I have heard, this being in real life and not on the internet, is that this guy is the closest thing to a real living boogy man.

I have nothing but love and respect for Rap-A-Lot and JP.

Diddy should at the very least, feel uncomfortable over this one.

I wonder what the wayne diss is?

drake not on the team? lol

But you could say just about the same thing about Suge 10+ years ago.  But Puff, Dre and Snoop made it, despite the barrage of threats Suge hurled at them for over a decade, when it was most believable too.  Between the three of them, Dre got punched, and that was it.  Everyone who really got touched wasn't high profile.

I'm not saying J. Prince isn't a serious guy, but I don't think anyone he named should feel shook by his little message.  It's over DRAKE of all people,  a cornball whose real name is Aubrey and doesn't have a street bone in his body.  It's not as if Puff slapped J. Prince's son or something like that, which would be a different story than slapping someone who is a grown man (at least from a legal standpoint) who got put in his place for acting up.

yeah, but unlike Suge, J.P. has stayed out of the limelight and is probably the ONLY record executive left that have a literal damn goon squad that would KILL just for favor from JP.

you don't remember when suge sent them goons at snoop and they beat his ass in 98 ?

J. Prince may not get followed by the paparazzi, but he's still a record exec whose name (and sometimes picture -- look at the inside of the booklet of Scarface's My Homies) was printed on millions of albums in circulation.  Maybe Rap-A-Lot wasn't on the scale of the companies that dominated rap charts, but they did numbers.  Hip-hop fans know who he is, just maybe not ones born in the '90s or later.

But the fact that this was purposely recorded and leaked to a place like TMZ makes me not take it as seriously as I would have if it were a message not transmitted to its intended recipient(s) through the internet but through mutual acquaintances.

Also, Suge DID stay out of the limelight during most of Death Row's reign, it's just that publications started figuring out who he was and were curious about him and decided to interview him, photograph him, etc., especially after the Pac shooting.  No established journalist outside of hip-hop magazines was likely ever curious about J. Prince, so I don't feel like he ended up in a situation that would make him a household name.

No, I really don't.  But either way, it's not like they left him a bloody mess on the floor and on a public stage.  Dre got socked on TV.

Was it an incident at the Source Awards?

MOB and LPP haven't been allied for a while.  On their wall strike ups, MOB had been crossing out LPP (and Cedar Block and Cross Atlantic too, in addition to the usual) since back in 2013.  So no, LPP wouldn't really do him any favors, but not necessarily because of him.

Rap-A-Lot's catalog > Death Row's catalog

ignorant rap fan... go listen to your Rap-A-Lot and No Limit and Cash Money, ignorant Southern rap fans ruined hip-hop.   There are some exceptions of course (like Outkast, Goodie Mob, etc.) and I respect Scarface, but nobody can argue that hip-hop wasn't in a better place back when the East Coast (80's) and West Coast (90's) were running hip-hop.

I bet I own more hip-hop albums than you and maybe only a handful come from No Limit, I own none from Cash Money except B.G. and Juvenile

who wants to break down the classic albums from both labels? bet Geto Boys/Scarface alone have more classics than Death Row they just don't have the sales/notoriety to match

anybody dissing Rap-A-Lot or isn't aware of their contributions outside Geto Boys doesn't know hip-hop, period... especially if you'd ever group them musically with Cash Money and No Limit

5th Ward Boys used hella samples The Chronic used (that both took from Parliament) first

facts... Dre and them were influenced from Rap-A-Lot why you think Bushwick was on the outro? amongst many other things there wouldn't be a Death Row without Rap-A-Lot

RAL has been around since the late eighties, DR was around for what five years? I think by numbers alone RAL has more classics.
It's not just Geto Boyz and Face. You have ZRO, Big Mike, Outlawz, Devin tha Dude, Big Syke, Do or Die, Yukmouth, Pimp C, Juvenile, Bun B and the list goes on and on of artist they released.

I think in terms of quantity, rap-a-lot have released more dope music than Death Row. however, death row has clearly released the biggest classics.

but Rap-a-Lot's in house producers were extremely talented and provided some of the best musicianship the rap game has to offer. just the fact that they've been around for what ? 29 years I think, is an outstanding accomplishment.

in terms of influence, Death Row artists were influenced by Rap-a-lot artists which in turned were later influenced by Death Row, the influence is most often mutual. but Suge signed The Convicts and wanted to sign the Geto Boys.

Rap-a-Lot had an amazing roster blurring the boundaries between the South, Midwest and the West.

https://www.youtube.com/v/MYFf87Blsd0https://www.youtube.com/v/QK9-ynLLiPshttps://www.youtube.com/v/GNRHWv7NTX0https://www.youtube.com/v/rYaFF64M6DUhttps://www.youtube.com/v/q-yYwKYqtsUhttps://www.youtube.com/v/jJOvp7xxoTQhttps://www.youtube.com/v/zma4oSCk_5Qhttps://www.youtube.com/v/Y5lfDoFmB4Ahttps://www.youtube.com/v/V_2jpoka_bA

these songs are a tiny glimpse of Rap-a-Lot's musical prime and all came out when Death Row was runnin' shit and are clearly on par with Death Row's output. Rap-a-Lot's legacy is outstanding. Any G-Funk / Rap / Hip-Hop lover should acknowledge that.
