Rare for a West Coast artist. The majority are broke and the fans seem to want to keep them that way

Damn, you can't even get sarcasm right...

I have no beef with Kendrick for doing this. Get that name out, ever since Melle Mel was one a Shaka Khan record, rappers been trying to get that mainstream attention. Kendrick is just putting in work. I ain't mad at him at all. The video really sucked, the song was okay. But Kendrick is getting his name out there with them young white girls that you need to sell music. No hate at all.

See.. you, and MDogg and everybody is justifying this from a money-making perspective... it's like all these Jay-Z fans who the first thing they mention is how much money he makes or how good a businessman he is... who gives a fuck? It ain't like you are spending his money. What should ultimately matter to us is the music, not how much money they are making.
...that said, I always did pay attention to record sales and wanted my favorite artists to succeed. #1 because you want the wack to fail so there will be less of it and the good to succeed so there will be more of it. Then #2, there may be artists like Dre, Snoop, Pac, Daz, Em that you care about as people since their music may have helped you through a hard time so you like to see them livin good

No. I'm saying typical West Coast fans would rather see their idols spitting meaningless bullshit and staying broke, than make a move like this.

its not that bad for a pop single...no different than Snoop doing a song with Katy

look.. I actually like Taylor Swift and I don't even have anything against her. I got like 3 or 4 songs of hers that I love. It's not about that...
....Dre said in 96 Source cover article that he didn't believe in being an "industry hoe". That Dre, although he respected people like Michael Jackson or Madonna, always turned down doing a track from them because he didn't believe in being an industry hoe. That was the kind of conversation that used to go down back in my era of hip-hop.
But of course today you don't even hear that kind of talk anymore. Instead you hear fans praising rappers for making good business moves, and they don't even care anymore if the styles really mix or if it's real family and chemistry, and so on. They just applaud the rapper for picking up a check as if they are spending the money.
Sure, it's a good business move for Kendrick, but I still say hip-hop is dead and I am still livin in 96' and fuck anybody who got a problem with that

Dr. Dre is arguably the biggest industry hoe the game has ever seen though

That's bullshit... Dre has more integrity than any artist in the game.
...Nearly everyone he works with he works with cause he is cool with them or vibes with them artistically, and most of the time it is just a favor for a favor with no money exchanged. NWA grew organically, Death Row grew organically, Aftermath grew organically; he didn't get money, success, or notoriety by going and working with Madonna in 91' or with Alanis Morrisette in 95' or with the Backstreet Boys in 99'
he has made most his money off of no-name people. NWA were all no-names until Dre started fuccin wit um. The whole Dogg Pound were nobody's and Dre turned it into gold. Em was ready to kill himself before Dre built careers for him and everyone around him. Same with Game, 50 had his album scrapped by a label... I mean how the fucc can you make such a claim about Dre.
Dre is all integrity that's why Beats has sold what it as sold because people know that the Dr. Dre name next to anything means quality and integrity.

Fuck that mentality. Dre wasn't speaking as spokesman for hip hop when he said that

this is true the headphones became a status symbol type thing with all the promotion and shit 90% of the people buying that shit are kids too young to even know about dre
-
and if dre has so much integrity as an artist how come he couldn't give his fans another album after so many years? oh yeah, it wouldnt sell enough so he would rather have nobody hear any new music
-
and if dre has so much integrity as an artist how come he couldn't give his fans another album after so many years? oh yeah, it wouldnt sell enough so he would rather have nobody hear any new music
very true dre made a business move and went with the headphones instead of putting out a new album even today i don't see if detox was released now those same kids would think the dre on detox and the guy from beats by dre are 2 different people lol or think he was a new rapper
-
and if dre has so much integrity as an artist how come he couldn't give his fans another album after so many years? oh yeah, it wouldnt sell enough so he would rather have nobody hear any new music
you could argue dre aint released detox because it didnt live up to his own expectations/elevated standards of quality. infinite says a lota bullshit, but dre truly is a perfectionist, i'll give him that.
-

which pretty much contradicts everything infant is claiming. u think overpriced headphones and speakers shown in lady gaga videos is any different from what jay z does and kendrick is doing here? at least jay z still puts out music
-

if he and jimmy thought it would be successful he would put it out no matter how bad it was

i duno bout that. Dre seem like the type who wouldn't put somethin out if he don't feel it. he's also sensitive bout his legacy, not just money.

true i agree with everything you said but dre being the business man he is saw he would make a ton of money selling headphones and speakers
to another note it is the reason we wont ever hear dre deathrow unheards while he still alive

Man, outside of a few megarich superstars like Dre, Em, Jay, Kanye, and maybe veeeery few others, there are no rappers around who would even think twice before replying "HEEELL yeah, I'm down for that!" if Taylor Swift was on the other end of the line looking for a token rapper for a big hit single. Can't really front on that. Besides, Taylor Swift is alright. That "1989" album is pretty damn good pop music.
-
LMAO @ the squares that believe all rappers are gang members, gangtas and thugs
-
Taylor Swift is alright. That "1989" album is pretty damn good pop music.
agreed.
...but like Slick Rick says in the Show documentary, "Everybody got their props or else (they wouldn't be doin it)—but if you mix this with this it doesn't work.
Point is just because Nas is dope and Snoop is dope doesn't mean that they should ever do a track together. Their styles don't mix. And just because Taylor Swift has some good pop songs doesn't mean that I wanna hear one of my fav rappers on a track with her (not that Kendrick is one of my fav rappers).
...as for Kendrick, he can do whatever he wants... but I still say shit didn't go down like this in the golden era, but ya'll can say what the fuck you want, fuck ya'll anyway
