Ice Cube spoke on this at last night's Straight Outta Compton premiere. Sounds like script drafts are complete but he wants New Line to put up more money.

dont care bout barbershop, but another friday gonna be cool.

Hopefully Pooh writes this one.
How about Last Friday (Smokey Got His Car Washed) with Snoop & Dre making cameos, even if it was one scene, it would be cool to see them together.

They gotta do barbershop 3 first before they do a 4th one. Kinda like the talk about bad boys 3 & 4 happening, i'm not really looking forward to them. If they were being filmed & put out a few years ago, then maybe. Most of the characters would be getting old.

Barbershop 3 was Beauty Shop.

The only way to do it, is to bring in a new cast, but with as much as the older cast from the 3 previous movies as possible supporting. Cube, Mike Epps, Tiny Lister, John Witherspoon, Kat Williams, the midget Tony Cox, Regina King, Uncle Elroy, Terry Crews. I'm guessing Chris Tucker may be difficult, but if they can get the bulk from the x3 previous movies in smaller roles, with a new cast and a new story then it should be good and leave it open for "Saturday" and a brand new franchise.
Michael B. Jordan was born in Cali and is a great young actor. Nicole Beharie is good eye candy, Tyler James Williams from Everybody Hates Chris would be good given his age. Jerrod Carmichael is a young comedian who has just pitched 2 spike-lee directed pilots to HBO. At least with a newer cast, they could drop in a small handful of 'originals' in to any new franchise

Mike Epps just said New Line was releasing right to the project. Epps indicated they had some discussions with Lionsgate but Cube would address.
