I hate to break it to you but hip hop is not the "be all and end all" of music.

But if you do your homework you will see that hip hop has always done much better in the European mainstream
then it has in the American mainstream...especially in the mid 90's.

American mainstream music has always been pretty bland and dull...Europe has always been far more cultured
when it comes to the mainstream, especially when it comes to Hip Hop & Dance music (eg House, Techno, Trance etc).
