As a Death Row loyalist I bought a few of the WideAwake releases. Snoops album released on WideAwake had some okay stuff, like I found the O.G. version of "O.G.'z" with the extra Snoop verses to be pretty dope. I'd been bumpin the Daz version from RRGB for years, and I'd have to say if completed the O.G. Snoop version is probably superior...
...but most of it was pretty forgettable...
The only truly worthy release that was the quality of an album that could've actually been released in its era was the Haven't You Heard album. That shit sounded ready to be released. They probably would've needed to use the "Beware of My Crew" single to make it sell, but I think it would've worked. They shouldn't of lended that single to the Thin Line soundtrack, kept it for themselves, and they would've at least gone minimum of gold with how popular Snoop was at the time, and likely platinum with some promotion and touring.
I mean the stuff Snoop was doing with LBC Crew in 95' was arguably better than the solo stuff he ended up dropping with the Doggfather album. It's clear most of this was done before Snoop's trial concluded. He was kind of shook after his trial and didn't really find himself again until the Top Dogg album (with many notable exceptions, tracks like "Ride On" and "Hooked")

Lbc crew album was one of the best album from wideasleep. Oftb damn near dead doggpound doggybag were also good. Lets hope e one do better with the catalogue.
-
Like the snoop collection too.
-
Dope album even though it included songs already released before (Flossin' for example).
Danny Boy's album and OFTB's album were great too.

Anyone have that song from the Death Row website Wideawake used to run, it was Jewell and it was a dope beat I just remember her singing "Like hardcore rap with my RnB sound, WELCOME 2 THA ROW" or some shit.
-
dope album indeed
-
Hood Star was better for me. Anyway didnt Hoodstar and Down & Dirty was mixed properly unlike other WideAwake stuff?
-

but these two only offered 3 new tracks, so a big disapointment.

Down & Dirty sounded the same as Against Tha Grain, to me it was in good quality. Hoodstar sounded alright too, only ''old'' material was fucked up

Isn't Haven't You Heard the only album to come out with all new material? It was dope indeed. I've pulled songs from the other albums they released but this is the only one where I have the entire album.
-
can some1 post up a list of all the albums they released?

All new material? It was the old album, but it was missing a few songs that were on the original tracklist.

Agree. The Doggystyle Compilation was their best release and it really outshined Snoop´s Doggfather album. That was some real DR MC shit. 8)

Agreed. The LBC Crew LP could have been pretty big and is one of my fav albums to come out of death row ever even though it was released almost two decades later
-
The Jewell - Black Diamond is good too 8)

I think Sam Sneed fucked up recording new Material and replacing old material for his album, because the shit he made that year didn't sound any different from any of the artist coming out that year, plus he's replacing Material he made while he was still just coming up/out. Of course it's possible the stuff he replaced was Dr. Dre related, but then again that didn't stop em from releasing that crooked I song over the next episode (OG) beat.
