Just Blaze Stays Busy, Working On 2 Labels:
By Nolan Strong
Date: 5/5/2003 6:00 PM
Just Blaze is staying busy, working on a variety of projects. The multi-platinum producer has two beats on Dr. Dre's next album and he is also working on not one, but two record label deals.
On working with Dr. Dre, the producer said he didn't believe that he would actually be working with someone of Dr. Dre's stature.
"I didn’t even believe that he was gonna call me," Just Blaze told AllHipHop.com. "I was like yeah sure –cause that’s somebody I grew up with, since I was 11 years old. NWA was is still one of my favorite groups of all times, so to get that phone call was kinda crazy."
Just Blaze said that he had a special beat ready for Dr. Dre, one that he had made in case the opportunity to work with him ever presented itself.
"There was actually one beat that I’ve holding for like 3 years, like 'I’m gonna meet Dre eventually and when I do I got plans for him,'" Blaze continued. The funny thing is that's the one beat he’s really really in love with."
Just Blaze, who has laid down tracks for the likes of Faith, Janet Jackson, Joe Budden and Jay-Z to name a few, recently lent his production touch to Beanie Sigel and Memphis Bleek.
"Beans is getting ready to drop and Bleek's getting ready to come out, and actually they getting ready to shoot the video for “Everything’s a Go”, which was the last record I did for Bleek right before I came out here [Los Angeles].
While he couldn't go into details about the two labels that he has planned, Just Blaze was excited about the prospects of running two successful companies.
"Basically what it is, is that both deals are in negotiation right now. As soon as they cut the check the right way that will be a go and you will be hearing about that."
Blaze said that his success was due to the fact that he is a team player.
"It's not just me, its myself, Nassa Camato, my manager, my partner in this as well I also work with Gee Roberson and Kyambo "Hip Hop" Joshua," Blaze continued. Roberson and Joshua both worked as A&R rep's for Roc-A-Fella. They are now both Vice Presidents of A&R, Urban Music, for Atlantic Records.
"We work as a team. Anything that I come across they are involved in, anything they come across we’re involved in, I guess it’s better when you have four heads working instead of just one."

very good news, imo. ;D
-
Very surprising news, imo. I dig the idea that Dre would work together with other producers to create a beat (he's done it before), but it sounds weird that he'd just take a pre-made beat on the album. A beat Dre didn't work on don't sound like something you'd expect to see on a Dre album.
-
Dre album with other producers all over it.. Mike Dean... Just Blaze.. Fred Wreck.. whats goin on
-
Dre's gonna fuck it all up. Detox gon flop, time will tell. I aint a hater, I love Dre, but I dont know the fuck he's thinkin lately.
-
Tiiight News but it seems like the whole industry will be on this album ...who's next P Diddy??
-
2 beats on the album? And Detox is suposedly gonna be 12 tracks? The DRE album should be 100% DRE produced.

man yall are trippin dre buys beats all the time and shnges them around to sound waaaaaaayyyy tighter, on 2001 scott scorch melman and others made alot of those beats, or at least came up with some of the sounds and dre just flips it. getting fred wreck and justblaze is really no different, i'm sure half the songs dre will do by himself and the others he'll do like i mentioned before
-
Bullshit ass east coast sound on a Dre album?!?? NOOO!!!
-
wat the fuck is dre thinkin?..........i got major love for blaze but i only accept him as a CO-PRODUCER at most on a dre album........its should be done solely from start to end by mel-man n dre.........

i don't know if i'm spelling this right but DRE IS AN ORCHASTRATOR he will put togethor a tight album and make everything blend togethor...........i think dre could get fred wreck, just blaze, and mel man togethor and not even produce a track just supervise and tell them how to use there talents and it would come out dope

Please...like they know what is going to be on the album already. I don't think they would have tracks cemented on this album already cause I don't even see it coming out this year.

So far there been talk about these producers working on Detox:
Mike Dean, Rockwilder, Fred Wreck, Just Blaze..
I think maybe 1 is gonna happen, and if it does, Dre is probably gonna twist the whole beat into something he likes..
-
Rockwilder is on Detox???
-
detox better be all dre productions....
-
It looks like Dre's trying to work with as many producers as possible to help spread his knowledge to make rap music better. And I think it's a good thing.

-
it appears that dre is slipping.
his latest beats have been ok, but it seems he is calling for a lot of help when he has to make some beats
-
The DRE album should be 500% DRE produced!!!!
-
yeah well...........we all know dre.....................come on now..... how many tracks did dre do for 2001?
when is detox coming out???? dre will have a shit load of beats before now and when his CD drops.....he may or may not use just blaze.......so who knows...if the shit is hot...its hot........
