Cash Money Set to Release First R&B Artist TQ -posted 14 May 2003 by MHT101
Singer/Songwriter TQ is set to release his debut album from Cash Money/Universal Records, entitled Gemini, on July 15th. The first single, "Keep It On The Low" was written and produced by R.Kelly and is an up-tempo dance track that balances TQ's rich vocals with Baby's trademark southern drawl.
Gemini, the follow-up to TQ's debut album They Never Saw Me Coming, is a collection of R&B ballads tinged with TQ's edgy Hip-Hop demeanor. The album features appearances from Jagged Edge, Big Tymers and Lil Wayne.
TQ recently finished shooting the video for "Keep It On The Low" in Miami at the famous Billboard Live venue. The video was directed by Billie Woodruff and has cameo appearances from Dante Culpepper of the Minnesota Vikings, Big Tigger, and Cash Money labelmates Baby, Mannie Fresh, and Boo & Gotti.

When kids are going to understand that TQ is a singer not a rapper...okay he's from the west but that doesnt make him a rapper or sumthin. and he aint the only one from the west. You got Tyrese,Raphael Saadiq, Montell Jordan & now Kci & jojo so ur telling me ur not gonna buy their records because it aint WestCoast??? this is really really sad
-
yep that's what us "kids" are saying, if you come out talk about "westside til i die", have everyone from e40, to tray d and the dogg poung (who are west coast artists) on your shit....then switch up and have cash money people (south side artists) on your shit then yeah i'm not going to buy his cd...raphael sadiiq never really repped the west, either did k ci and jo jo... and montell still reps the west so get your facts straight...also TQ shit isn't r and b....his shit is just as hard as nate dogg's and you don't see people calling nate dogg r and b....and lastly, you won't find TQ in the r and b section in a cd store.

TQ isn't R&B? I guess you haven't even heard "They Never Saw Me Coming" and "The Second Coming"... And have you ever heard Nate Dogg's albums? The shit Nate Dogg does is all R&B. You don't seem to get that these artists have a (strong) hip hop influence ::)
Oh and something else: I have never seen a TQ album in the hip hop section.

and something else
listen to 'ghetto' (f/ lil wayne) from his upcoming album. this song is straight gangsta.

The Keep It On The Low track is dope as hell from the sample of it on that site Mauzip gave me a link to.
I will buy this album simply because TQ has a dope voice, and the southern influence doesn't really bother me. Although he has got some of Cash Money making guest appearances he has still got Damizza doing some production on the album, and I still think that there will be some west coast influence on the album. Overall I am just waiting for TQ to drop a dope album.

True That and LoL @ TQ album being in the Hiphop section I dont know where u from but in my city TQ's shit are in the R&B section

"I think this time around, it's a twofold thing. For the people who don't know me from my first album, I really want them to realize that this is some real R&B.. It's real artistry and not no novelty type thing. This ain't nothing less than real and I want them to know that. For the people that knew me already I want them to know that I can really sing. I'm not a rapper. I'm a singer."
now What Brotha!!!!

Like I said IF IT AINT WESTCOAST I aint gon buy the album. If you read carefully, i didnt say he was a rapper and not a singer...i just said that I dont like the shit he puts out with cash money, that's it. And being a singer does not mean he cannot put out westcoast music. I love They Never Saw Me Coming, thats wessyde and I want more like that.
And you're assuming I don't like R&B...well man, loving Westcoast shit doesnt mean I cant like R&B. I got ALL Montell's cds, all K-Ci&Jojo's , Jon B's or Brian Mcknight's. Montell is dope and he's making great r&b music, and always drop a couple of west sounding songs (check montell's anthem from his latest self titled album, feat WC - it didnt come out in the USA but it's a great cd).
So, knowing that I like both HipHop and R&B, I will only buy TQ's album if it is Westcoast. Not because he is a singer, that's because Cash Money sucks (IMO). He should get a listen to his own "Used to" song and STAY TRUE!!!
