Damn, this is sad. She added a lot to some of the greatest rap tracks of all time. Another one from Death Row Records gone.
RIP Jewell, what a great voice you had.
-
oh no! that really hurt me so bad.
jewell was not only a part of g-funk history, she was definately a component of g-funk era. you need to get mean it really. jewell defined how a black woman vocalist supposed to sound on a g-funk rap song. i'm really sorry. this hit me most since nate dogg's pass.

I remember when I bought No Limit Top Dogg back in the day and how excited I was to see Dre, Snoop and Jewell on a track together again with "Just Dippin'" It didn't disappoint. Jewell may not get the credit she deserves in the music industry, but she holds a special place in the hearts of West Coast Hip-Hop fans that witnessed its golden days.
This one really hurt and she will be missed.

RIP to the Queen 🪦 Rest in Presence
Did the vaxxine kill her?

Great to see all the love that Jewell is receiving here at the forum. She said in one of those Art interviews that she wanted to do a positive album not about dick sucking something for her grandkids that they could be proud of. I never saw her in that light. I saw her as a great artist and she should be proud of all of her great work at Death Row. I had the best times of my life banging her music. Of course she wasn't the featured artist so I can't say she made those tracks, but she definitely never disappointed and always came correct on whatever songs they put her on.
"What Would U Do" is one of her biggest joints, because they kind of put the hook at the end as a sort of outro which was something only Dr. Dre would take the time to do something like that. Produced by Daz but Dre had to have co-produced. Mid-90's used to leave the window to my bedroom open before I had a license and car to play music in I would bang that joint as loud as I could with the speakers next to the window so people could here it down the street.
But THE song that got me into hip-hop was "Wit A Dre Day". That was THE joint. Everyone has that one song that was the AHA! moment when the lightbulb came on in their head. Before that video came out I was just your regular fan who liked stuff like Young MC "Principals Office" or Naughty By Nature's big singles, stuff like LL Cool J "Mama Said Knock You Out", or "Rump Shaker". That was what I knew of rap, but I wasn't a hip-hop head. Even "G Thang" didn't make me into a hip-hop head. It was a video that was on but I wasn't fully aware.
When I saw "Wit A Dre Day" come on when I was away from home for a week at MU Missouri Tigers basketball camp summer of 93' that was it for me. We were all in the lobby in between our games. It was great because you would get to play like 5 games a day when you were away at camp. It was like the best time of my life being able to play in real, competitive games all day long and listen to people like Anthony Peeler tell you what it was like to play against Michael Jordan.
So that's my best memory for Jewell is that she was on the track that literally turned me into a hip-hop head. When that video came on when I was away at camp in 93' the whole fuccin camp the catch phrase was "Bow Wow Wow Yippee Yo Yippee Yea" all the older dudes were rappin that back and forth to games. I was hooked the moment I saw that video, so props to Jewell for being on it and coming through and doing her thing on the outro that was like a coronation and celebration at the end--she helped make that joint big, and made me a hip-hop head for life.

We should start a thread for that...
I think my favorite unreleased Kurupt track from Death Row is the Dogg Pound cut "Tremendous Odds"
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ap9P7JvYGJE
I still dream of them dropping a sophmore LP back in 97' -- could of looked like this ---
1. "Nuthin But a Cavi"
2. "Me in Your World
3. "Tremendous Odds"
4. "Blueberry" (banger they gave away to Snoop)
5. "Gang Bangin Ass Criminal
6. "It's Goin Down"
7. "Initiated"
8. "Make Some Noise"
... Not sure all those cuts were recorded in the Death Row era but it's likely they were, they had the makings of another classic, for sure

yeah pretty sure most if not all of those were Death Row
as far as solo tracks I would put "40z and Bud" up there even though Mr. Grinch is featured on it..."DPG 4 Life/These Reasons" is another one that was on "Doggy Bag" compilation

If you go there you could also add “Got My Mind Made Up” which is of course one of the all-time cuts in hiphop history and it would have had Deck and Rage on it instead of Pac so it would of lost a bit without Pac but Deck was a killer in those days so still a classic

I always thought Pac's verse was underrated on that...when most people talk about the song its mostly Kurupt or Meth who had the dopest verse but Pac brought it as well

I don't think so..why others don't die off vaxx?
Thousands are dying off vaxx or are sick because of it. Please do some research! People with vaxx are a ticking time bomb...

Sad news. RIP and thankyou for all the great music

Yeah its because they expect Pac to be great every time so they aren't surprised.
...But if you remember (and I know you will) the joy of that feeling in the 90's when like you first hear an artist and you know its the truth and you're like "oh shit, who is this guy?"
One time after Pac had been out a long time they played the Pac and MC Breed joint on the radio, and I wasn't expecting him to be on a guest feature so I didn't know it was him, and I was like "Ohh Shit who is this cat, this guys is going to be the next big thing in rap!" by the end of the verse I realized it was just 2pac but that was the vibe just on an average 2pac verse if you didn't know it was him or it was a new artist you would've been like "This dude got next"

Me painting myself yellow and learning a Asian language does not make me Asian. I might feel I should had been born that way, but god gave me other genes. - I can live with that or I can correct the best way I know how, but does not make me Asian.
Them useing make up and getting breasts does not make them men. - They might feel like men, they might even think they are born in the wrong body is trying to correct it. - But does make it so.
