Same time I became a hiphop head when “Dre Day” started making its rounds on MTV—the other big hit at the time was H-Town “Knockin the Boots”—they were just like Jodeci—it was R&B music that hiphop headz could enjoy—and there was a link there because when you think about it H-Town had another stellar cut “Part Time Lover” on the Above the Rim soundtrack and then one of Johnny J’s first breakthru cuts with Pac was “Pour Out A Little Liquor” was also on Above the Rim.
Also 2pac was impressed with Johnny J when he found out he was the producer of “Knockin Boots” cause it was one of Pacs favorite songs.
Then of course later Pac is doing great music with KC and Jo Jo and Johnny J is producing it’s all connected.
Johnny J is the third best producer of all rhyme behind Dre and Daz. J was a master at blending rap and R&B he also linked Pac with Jon B for that joint “R U Still Down” which is a timeless classic.

Saw it in this 13 minute long video with various interviews with Johnny J—I’ll look for it but it was Johnny J who said it so maybe he was uncredited

I’m wrong, your right, my bad.
It was “Knockin Boots” by Candyman (song I never knew about), not “Knockin the Boots” by H-Town. (Misunderstanding)

How have you never heard of candy man knockin boots? This is a west coast forum.
