I’ve never followed Bay Area rap so it was only recently I discovered Dru Downs classic “Pimp of the Year” which clearly gave Jay-Z all his ideas for his first breakthru single. Not only that Jay-Z had to borrow Foxys shine because Foxy was a star then

Well let me add that a lot of headz try to claim that Reasonable Doubt was Jay-Z at his best and his best album.
And it can’t even hold a candle to what Dru Down was doing in the O.G track in which Jay got all his ideas from.
I take nothing away from Jay as a business man but as an artist he’s severely mediocre
