Title: Suge treatment of Kurupt 2003 vs. Suge treatment of Kurupt 1995
Post by: TraceOneInfinite Flat Earther 96' on December 06, 2022, 06:23:24 PM
Aside from being blackballed--this also shows why the 2nd run of Tha Row failed--how Suge changed in jail and became more controlling and tyrannical.   Notice a huge difference in Suge's behavior--he bossin up' on Kurupt in public on this interview wit Treach, son treatment like Kurupt is Danny Boy in a skirt.  Doesn't even let him talk.  (that's Da Brat's sister too by the way)

https://youtu.be/CybBgTelIYk

Versus 1995 when Suge wanted his young stars to shine and stayed out of the way and had they back...You'll notice a tremendous difference in Suge being way more relaxed and cool and Kurupt much more confident

^^I actually remember seeing this interview in real time in 95' was a great time to be a head

Yeah Kurupt was in his element and in his moment in 1995.  You can also see Suge is comfortable and not so eager to assert his authority or show he's the boss or big man around.  Behind close doors we now know he was doing that shit; but when it came to promotion on camera he wasn't asserting himself like that.

Suge's whole demeanor is different in the 2003 interview, and Kurupt looks like he just got sent to the principals office or something.

Just a though, maybe Suge being different on Kurupt also had something to do with Kurupt's drug use?

I saw the BET one live and was thinking Kurupt wanted to be anywhere in the world but there...he had become a shell of his former self at the time, both on the mic and off as well

Kurupt must’ve really needed the 4 million.

Reggie Wright was in a recent interview and he said they sold the Death Row rights of 2pacs Better Dayz to get Kurupt his 4 million—so it’s almost as if Pac around 6 years after his Death was getting Kurupt the 4 million Death Row owed him.

The Death Row logo was still on Better Dayz but it was basically sold the Estate.

Thats what Reggie said anyway.

Quote
Kurupt’s reason for the move was mainly financial. Antra records filed for bankruptcy which left Kurupt possibly left without a home. He was struggling financially and was at his lowest point. Suge knew this and similar to how he did Tupac, sold him a position and a pipe dream in exchange to use their talent to extract revenge for personal gratification.

A nice sum up of what happened.

A nice sum up of what happened.

That doesn’t sum it up at all.  For Kurupt or 2pac.

The 96’ Suge loved Pac and he paid Pac.  Pac was rich way before his albums recooped.  Suge also had love for Kurupt in the mid 90s and Kurupt didn’t return only for money—-Daz and Kurupt looked up to Suge and believed in him.

But instead Suge wasn’t the same Suge.  He let Kurupt down.

I blame Kurupt for disloyalty to DPG.

I think we forget at dubcc that regular music fans don’t even know who Kurupt is and don’t even know who Daz is.  The real reason Dogg Food sold 2 million was because of Snoop.  Snoop was the biggest artist in the world at that time and he’d been reppin DPG so far it was HIS group.  It’s like D-12 Devils Night sold 2 million.  How much would that have sold without Eminem?  Not even gold.

So you can’t turn your back on Snoop like that and Karma hit Kurupt so hard he never sounded good on the mic ever again after Space Boogie.

Kurupt ultimately chose his family over anything, I cant be mad at that even though I do see your point about the betrayal and karma

I think though that Kurupt was on a downward spiral before even Space Boogie, mostly due to his alcohol addiction which became worse as the years went by

So, here's ultimately the truth as Tanner Guinn knows it don't take his word for it.

On The History:

"So, Suge was pressuring Kurupt around 1997 when Snoop bounced and Daz bounced for the first time. That's where we get that concert beat down at the ampitheatre. Kurupt leaves the label, runs to Philly, gets the Philadelphia Mafia to head the label. He becomes the S.V.P. of A & R and becomes their start artist. You know this label as Antra. So, the label ends up getting distribution by what would be considered Universal Music Group but it makes no sense seeing as the label didn't exist then. So, anyways, Suge is still muscling up on Kurupt through prison. So Kurupt says fine Suge, I'll release the Death Row stuff re-produced, same writing. That's the first album under Antra and promo-singles for only part of the material. So things go smoothly, but Kurupt is strung out on shrooms and can't stop hanging out in limos. He rents them. So, anyways, Daz is pissed with Snoop in 1999 and Kurupt is loyal to Daz. Daz was still on Death Row during his second return. So, there's already a sort of fall out by this point. Anyways, they reunite but Daz is broke so he goes indie. Starts messing with Mike Dean re-using re-worked Death Row material - RAW and Dillinger and Gotti. Kurupt is doing decent at first, but the mafia keeps you broke. Plus, he had his drug use. So, he starts going broke. So, Suge when he gets out comes in his ear. Says, hey - let's have you re-do somethings on DPG 2002. Let me cut you a paycheck. Kurupt's like I need this. So he does it. But he's like I'm still loyal to Daz, still loyal to Snoop, Soopafly, Bad Azz, the whole DPG. But he goes to Snoop one day and goes I'm broke. Snoop's like I'll fix this - let's sign you to my label. Guess what? Kuruption is suppose to get a limo to drive him to sign the deal. Never happens. So Suge approaches him - says come sign to Death Row, I'll bail you out of a tax debt you've acquired, he's like $1.2 Mill in debt off this alone, I'll get the mafia off your back, I'll make you Vice President of the label, I'll sign you as an artist, I'll even put some money in your pockets. Daz in his own way I forgot the situation had also turned his back on Kurupt. So, Kurupt says I'm still loyal - I'mma sign but I ain't going to diss them. So, we get this unfinished album Back In Lane which is co-written by The D.O.C. - But Snoop because Suge keeps having other artist plus himself diss Snoop and Daz. Says, fuck it - I'mma diss. Plus, when Kurupt showed up on BET as a surprise, they thought disloyalty and it was Suge Knight flexing knowing he just stole Left Eye, had Keisha Cole, and damn near stole Lil Mo. So, they push the button - Kurupt gets caught in the cross fire. He fires back. But think about how long it took him to fire back. Because he didn't want to. End of story.   " - David Tanner Guinn

On The Treatment:

"So, Kurupt got a better stipen check for the time in the original Death Row era but never star artist treatment. During the second generation up until Petey Pablo - he was the star artist. Also, I know you won't believe this one but there are multiple Suge Knights. Run skin colors and ears. So, there's always going to be that change. But yes, definitely more violent. I remember a story involving Yaku or Ambassador Kash where he tried to flex on a friend of mine for letting people hear unheard Petey songs but it was Yaku's doing. So, Suge was definitely more violent. I actually have a few interesting stories about Kurupt, Petey Pablo, and Crooked I that are about the violence Suge inflicted but that's another time." - David Tanner Guinn

"In the 1940's, the Nazis figured out the art of body doubles. Find someone who looks like you, sorta sounds like you, and inject fat into the larnyx to sound like you. This practice found its way into Mexican organized crime, The C.I.A., and various other things. Hip Hop after 1989 was a bi-product of the intelligence community. Death Row Records was one of the labels affected. Every celebrity in Hollywood has at least one body double in case things go wrong. Suge had four of them. 2Pac, his whole career was body doubles. Death Row Records was setup as a set-up for the inner city community because all of the founders facing RICO. They were forced to work with the U.S. Government and sell out their own using the C.I.A.'s system. Unless, I were to do a full break down of it. It's hard to paraphrase." - David T. Guinn

So, Suge when he gets out comes in his ear. Says, hey - let's have you re-do somethings on DPG 2002. Let me cut you a paycheck. Kurupt's like I need this. So he does it.

Here's where you know this story is fiction:

Suge Knight was freed from jail the week after DPG 2002 was released. He wouldn't have been freed and then asked Kurupt to rerecord vocals for an album that was just released weeks earlier. Kurupt's Space Boogie album was released 2 weeks before DPG 2002, so he would have been busy trying to promote the album. Any retooling was done by Big Hutch; the only new vocals that were laid down were by The Relativez, Big C-Style, and SKG (the Crooked I track was recorded during the Too Gangsta 4 Radio sessions). Kurupt had nothing to do with this album whatsoever, and that's straight from his mouth:

"I'm shocked he ain't been did it," Kurupt said recently. "I'm a fan now. I'm ready to buy it. There's so many songs on there I remember doing back in the days, I know he got. I'm like 'Man, I'd been drop a Dogg Pound record.' People wanna hear that. He got the rights to it so it's about time."

https://www.mtv.com/news/941a3r/tupac-claims-to-be-biggie-annihilator-snoop-dissed-on-death-row-dogg-pound-lp

Also, Kurupt wasn't hanging around Death Row in the summer/fall of 2001. He didn't reenter the picture until the end of 2001. I don't know when the discussions of him going back started, but I know 100% for a fact it wasn't before November/December.

I believe your timeline is correct

Kurupt, Crooked I and Suge were on the radio in NYC in the Hot 97 studios the begining of January '02 announcing that he had gone back to the Row

they also went on 106 and Park along with Left Eye

"Correct me if I'm wrong but Antra Records is now Treacherous Records. Antra owned the Kurupt label because they were the Italian Mafia then they sold it off to the Armenian Mafia. The Italians sold most of their proxy interests such as Las Vegas to the Armenians such as one casino I refuse to name.

With Chicago, it was the drug routes to the Mexicans to kill off the blacks via inner city violence. White politicians know of this plan. The Chicago Mob today is now known as the Chicago Council on Foreign Affairs. But back to Kurupt, so the Armenians buy the masters and are now Treacherous who Crooked I signed with.

That's why they dropped Kurupt's greatest hits. The reason Crooked I never came out is because UMG and other labels wouldn't pay more than $50,000 to distribute the records.  Rockafella and Jay-Z were interested though in signing Crooked I.

I speculate UMG was made from mafia money despite Vivendi being France because UMG was the distributor to Interscope Records from 1997 - 1999 even though they had an unnamed distributor really doing it. Though UMG didn't exist in the press at all till 1999. My speculation is Jimmy and the rest were bank rolling the main label Interscope through mob money until 1999 and signing Antra to launder money through UMG which they also own and is now a corporate entity. Death Row too was also involved with the mafia through KENNER and GHWB having mob ties because he was a dope dealer IN BUSINESS with the C.I.A. AND MAFIA AND COMPTON AND KNEW PATRICK WHO WAS SEED FUNDING FOR DEATH ROW RECORDS.

With this all being said, I say that my timeline is correct because you have one record from Back In Lane to prove it - its called 4 Tha G'z and I knew people who worked with Kurupt such as Boxer - I have pictures of him next to 2Pac.'' - David T. Guinn

With this all being said, I say that my timeline is correct because you have one record from Back In Lane to prove it - its called 4 Tha G'z and I knew people who worked with Kurupt such as Boxer - I have pictures of him next to 2Pac.'' - David T. Guinn

is this the track you are talking about? What was Back In Lane, a Kurupt album he was working while on DR?

Pure fiction. I know for a fact that UMG (Universal Music Group) been distributing labels like Def Jam, Interscope, Geffen, A&M, Island and so on in Europe since '94
