I remember reading (in 2003) that Quik did the drums on it.

he gave drum kits to Dre to do the drums.
-
Can someone post the songs he mentioned in the video that have a similar sound to in the club? I personally don't believe this but I want to at least hear him out.
I feel like 50 made the song moreso than the beat. The beat is weird and corny to me.

That was my understanding too. And he shouted out quik

Quik's track FANDANGO ft B-Real sound like In Da Club STYLE...

I'm not going to lie, I can hear the similarities between the two tracks. Any others?

They traded drum files, producers do that all the time. Dr's drum sounds are all over Under The Influence if you listen.

this beat was originally given to d12 and they turned it down

Who the fuck is Lush and why would he throw out some bullshit like this? If Quik produced the song we would have heard about it already.

True.

there's some misinfo in the video. as far as Quik actually creating the skeleton for In Da Club that's possible but it also goes against what we've heard so far.
Quik credit on Addictive - Quik credited as producer from Day 1. Quik later explains he made rough versions (demo & proper) & Dre actually produced the record but gave him the credit (Dre listed only for mixing). this was obvious if you know what Dre's 'mixing' credit entails - he's effectively producing the record.
In Da Club - Quik says the iconic clap is one of his sounds. Quik doesn't say he made the loop just that he had a hand in providing sounds for this & other records on GRODT. even if Quik did come up with the basic loop he did not produce In Da Club. it would be pretty big if he did create a basic version of the beat though.

Yeah, I was pretty sure that Quik only claimed that Dre used one of his sounds on In Da Club. So his point was that he played a part in it. Never once heard Quik claim he produced In Da Club.

At this point I just want to know why they sound so similar.

what sounds similar
Fandango and In Da Club.
Personally, I don't think they sound similar. Fandango sounds like brass to me, In Da Club like strings. I guess people notice the tambourine on both.

yea they’re overall much different .. the slight similarity there is the orchestra feel
which was a staple of dre’s sound during that era
and quik was known to mimic dre’s sound from time to time, so seems to me like he tried to come wit an orchestra style beat ala dre and the result was fandango
he always looked up to dre and has made that clear in so many ways
