fuck they're all classics
Id agree for sure....These albums have all stood the test of time, and to me that is what makes a classic album....The all hey great replay value and are all classic albums IMO. Just becuase It was Written wasnt as good as Illmatic people say it aint classic.....When really, Illmatic could get 6/5, and It Was Written could get 5/5 and still be classic.

If I had 2 choose only 2..
outta those
ImO
Nas "It was written"...CLASSIC
One of the most anticipated lp's in a minute.
A world of pressure was probably on Nas' shoulder's when he was recording this album, he was expected to follow up one of the better debut's ever (ILLmatic)...ImO
considering all the music he has done since then, this one get's the nod equal or possibly better than STILLmatic as his second best title.
Method man "Tical"...CLASSIC
Only thing I can compare this 2...to compare it to now.
would be the buzz 50 cent had before droppin' his first official lp. Meth had the entire industry swinging from his nut's during this period. and he was was doing the grimey ish, that wasn't considered mainstream. His joint with Mary J was classic. (even tho the popular version, does not appear on his lp) I still to this day bump this on..
There is no question in my eyes that this one is a shelf life of forever in my collection.
Dope thread..prop's

Nas "It was written"..WAY OVERRATED, AZ'S PIECES OF MAN IS AS DOPE AS THIS OR EVEN BETTER
Method man "Tical"...his prime, his time is over....4.5/ 5
Ghostface - Ironman.....4/5 , def not
Gangstarr - Moment of Truth....4.25-4.5/5 ....dope, not classic
Blackstar - 4.25/5, Black on Both Sides is better
-
i don't really think any of them are classic but if i had to pick one it'd be the Ticallion stallion
-
I don`t like the word classic but all these cds are very tight.

that's right.
-
only ironman is a classic in that list
-
iron man
tical
moment of truth
-
none of em
-
IMO Mos Def & Talib Kweli are the greatest duo today. They should record together more often...
-
Tical is the closest to classic IMO

I don't know...is 5/5 considered classic or can 4.5/5 outta 5 be considered classic? IMO, 5/5 is classic. So by my scale there are only about 3 or 4 albums that are "classic".
-
an album can be 5/5 and still not be considered a classic.
a classic album means it must withstand the test of time.

I see what you're sayin'....I just think the word "classic" is overused.
-
I think they're all 4.5 or above.....
-
The reason I put It Was Written is because it's a great album and got overshadowed by Illmatic and I've seen a number of people call it a classic.
Classic? Nah, good but no classic, tied for 4th best Nas album.
The reason I put Moment Of Truth & Black Star is basically cause I hear classic talk of these albums sometimes.
Classics? Moment Of Truth is close, best Gang Starr album IMO, but no, Black Star hell no, just cause it's the first album of two great lyricists doesn't make it classic, it's just not good enough to be.
The reason I put Tical and Ironman on here is because they don't get the recogniton like Raekwon and Gza do as far as the first batch of Wu-Tang solos go.
Classics? Tical is overrated IMO, good but no classic, Ironman however is probably the best album of the bunch, nice variety on there as Ghostface shows you a well-rounded MC. I find it hard not to call this a classic but I hate to throw the word classic around.
0 outta 5

Black Star, Ironman and Tical fo sure.. the others are very tight.. dunno if they classics
-
Well to put it quick:
It Was Written = No
Moment Of Truth = Yes
Black Star = No
Tical = Yes
Ironman = Can't say (Never heard it) :-\
Only Tical and Moment Of Truth qualifies as classics from those 4 in my book. They're all great albums though.
-
For me the Black Star album is straight classic, there is nothing to fault on that entire album, except prehaps the fact that they could have done a whole track on the B Boys Will B Boys beat instead of just one verse, but other than that to me it is flawless. This may seem a bit of a rash statement, but to me it is my favourite east coast album ever, I just can't find anything wrong with it.

tical-yes
it was written-no, very near classic
ironman-same as above
