From Soul Assassins III 'Death Valley', 8/25

dj muggs doing wack beats for long time. he just writes a dark drum loop and put a "not interesting at all" sample, then somebody jumps on it and he releases it.
finally he even give up making a beat, he just adds the acapella and release.
i think soon he will just release a song which you will be listening to 3 or 4 mins long silence.

Muggs is decent and has made some classics including the Cypress Hill Insane in the Brain, Ice Cube Check yo self, The Foundation with Xzibit and, Puppet Master with B-Real and Dr. Dre.

nah, he aint decent he is one of the best producers in hip hop!
He made classic rap albums, made dnb, rock, electro albums too.
mixtape as a real dj, compilations to tribute hip hop.
he got different groups, duos, and solo albums too.
hes active bout 30+ years and still underrated!

i'm a dj muggs fan. as you can read above again, i said he is doing wack beats for long tiime lately.
i have never listened something decent from him since 2010...
i am not saying anything bad against his legacy but he is betraying his legacy for long time.

I feel the same. I try to listen to his stuff since 2010, and he also releases lots of videos, and the songs are always so boring and the rappers he works with don't really do anything for me either. I have liked 2 projects since 2010, Cypress Hill "Elephants On Acid", and Jay Worthy & DJ Muggs "What They Hittin 4". Everything else has no replay value for me, and I never really see anyone else talk about any of the songs either. I mean look at all these projects:
2013 - DJ Muggs - Bass In Your Face
2017 - Meyhem Lauren* & DJ Muggs - Gems From The Equinox
2018 - DJ Muggs & Roc Marciano - KAOS
2019 - DJ Muggs, Lil' Eto - Hells Roof
2019 - DJ Muggs X Tha God Fahim* - Dump Assassins
2019 - DJ Muggs, Mach-Hommy - Kill Em All
2019 - DJ Muggs & Crimeapple - Medallo
2019 - DJ Muggs & Mach-Hommy - Tuez-Les Tous
2020 - DJ Muggs & Al.divino - Kilogram
2020 - DJ Muggs - Winter
2021 - Yelawolf X DJ Muggs - Mile 0
2021 - DJ Muggs - Winter 2
2021 - DJ Muggs, Hologram - American Cheese
2021 - DJ Muggs & Crimeapple - Cartagena
2021 - DJ Muggs X Flee Lord - Rammellzee
2021 - Rome Streetz, DJ Muggs - Death & The Magician
2021 - DJ Muggs The Black Goat – Dies Occidendum
2022 - DJ Muggs, Rigz (2) - Gold
2022 - DJ Muggs & Crimeapple - Sin Cortar
2023 - DJ Muggs – Notes And Tones
2023 - DJ Muggs, Madlib, Meyhem - Champagne For Breakfast
I can't even name 10 songs, heck even 5 songs off all of these projects that I have replayed after initial listening. Just my opinion.
-
most of these are dope projects!
his chemistry with meyhem lauren and crimeapple is fine!
yes, these are new cats, and this new minimal or no bass rap albums, far from the 90s, but geez! 90s were 30+ years ago!

agreed with everything

MUGGS is the GOAT! you don't need to like all of his work. he makes music for all tastes. he's not a bubble gum producer even though thats what most fans want him to be.

yes these projects ara far from 90's but not even close to 2020s also... very outdated, artisticly worthless, nothing special.

Ren's verse is wack. Always the same villain shit.
-
Die hard Cube and Cypress fan but minus the beat and B Real’s verse it was weak.
-

Nothing wrong with this beat. Clean your ears.

its the Same Ol' Shit

it's aight, I'll take this over this slow nasal new shit any day.

Ren used to be one of my favourite rappers. He has made some bad decisions and moves over the years... His Osiris and Renincarnated stuff was horrible, it pains me to see his career fail.
Dre always got the best out of him... I still love 'if it ain't ruff' to this day. Ive said it may times, he needs to drop teh villain moniker and stop talking about dicks!
He sounded good on the guest appearances on Paris produced projects. He really needs decent producers. Him and Cube make a good tag team, but I don't think they have been close in decades. They are world's apart..
Most underrated rapper but he has contributed to his downfall... it's just too late in the day to make up for lost momentum and bad choices.
