Daz has around thirty solo albums. so yes they are not all perfect! but even if the album isn't great there are still a few good westcoast songs here and there. RRGB, R.A.W., This life i lead, Public Enemiez, Who Ride Wit Us vol.1 / 2, DPGC U Know What Im Throwin Up, I Got Love In These Streetz, Tha Dogg Pound Gangsta Lp, So So Gangsta, Only On The Left Side, Matter Of Dayz, Dazamataz. All these albums are bangers! And that’s just the solos! I'm not talking about the Dogg Pound albums, the one with 2Pac, W.C. yes of the DPG Crew it is one of the most consistent.
-
Dazamataz was a really good album, have to give him props for that. Seems like he really took his time with that one.

coulda been a classic if narrowed down to 1 disc
-
Daz also got a feature on the Big Pokey album.
-
Gonna be an average album for sure.
Hope for some good features at least.

Should say produced by Ivan Johnson… it’s now becoming obvious that he is Daz magic producer for decades now
-
Right here
Wish we had more big pimpin but that’s a solid Daz track
-
I didn’t ecpect much but it’s fire!!!! It sounds like some 2000 era vault shit.
-
ABC DPG wack lazy daz flow. I'm guessing kurupt really wrote all his good shit from 95 to 2001.

Really good album. I was suprised by that.
-
This is a real surprise, for a g-funk west coast fan like me it is much better than Snoop's album, Daz always listen to his first hour fans contrary to his cousin...
-

You act like Daz was some amazing lyricist back then lol it’s always been like that
-
With Ivan involved it’s sounding good. First single is a classic DPG banger.
Going through it now but regardless, you have to admire Daz’ entrepreneurial abilities and always striking when the iron is hot. Good to see Kurupt on a couple tracks as well.
-
Anyone listening to Daz for lyrical abilities has zero brain cells. Nevertheless he has a fantastic ear and good on medodies, great actually.

So…quietly, in a lotta way, this is the dopest of the 3….Dilly, Snoop, Cube

Sometimes it’s good to listen to an old fashioned mindless rap album without having to decipher a bunch of hidden messages and codes or listen to songs having a 40 piece live orchestra with 10 beat switch ups on every song.
-
We already know daz wasn't a lyricist, the problem with him is he's raps are lazy, he had unique style to his flow and story telling in the past, but now he just writes the basic lines just to make a song with a generic chorus. Same problem with MC Eiht in the last 10 plus years, Compton, Gyeah, Hootrat Drive by blah blah blah. It's a shame really some of these old rappers don't care no more, just insult the fans with weak effort.
-

You’re right. It is. It’s the most fun to listen to out of the 3
Another solid effort by the Dillinger
-
Thought this was pretty average bar a couple of tracks.
-
Good album.
-
Anything from Daz is going to be worth a listen, because he can always churn out a great song or 2.
yes ! thats why i alway pay attention when Daz release an album , always one or 2 great song among many averages
i cant say the same sht with old ass snoop , E40 or old new york rappers ..garbages albums from start to end
-

Easily yes. plus I don't think Daz took his time with this album. he just took advantage of the Missionary hype to release an album at the same time
-

Agreed. Bet he made this in 7-14 days. Ride the Dre/Snoop wave.
-
Smart man.
-
Money on my mind is fucking awesome, love how kurupt is sharp again. That, busta and waste my time are all big heat 8)
My life is sick too

Another generic sounding album from Daz.
I really hate Daz's cadence for a while. He is over aggressive with his voice imo like he is shouting into the mic.
He needs to relax vocally.
Also his production is very generic now days. There were a couple of dope beats but something doesn't sound right.
Not sure if it's the mixing or poor samples/equipment, but it sounds very flat.
Some of the rappers need to drastically reduce the output of music and work on quality control.
Sure, the music may not be to everyone's taste or be a classic, but it's so sloppy just to constantly pump out music.
I know Missionary has got some mixed reviews, but I now totally understand and appreciate why Dre took a different direction to the traditional G-funk & 2001 sound.
-

Pretty telling how Daz makes an album in a week and Missionary takes 3+ years to make with 50+ people involved and many people are saying Daz’s album is better.
-
Alright little project but you're nuts if you think this is better than Missionary or Cube's album.
-
many people are saying Daz’s album is better.
Yeah, here. Stans and groupies...
Meeen, dont be a child with these nonsense thoughts...
-
I listened to it twice but production quality is wack as fuck. Daz was making better songs production wise 20 years ago. Now it feels like he is releasing demos straight from his daw with raw mixes. What a shame for a legend like him.
-
Daz still has some very good beats, but it's mixed in with a lot of generic low quality ones. He needs some decent equipment/software/samples etc, because even his good beats sound flat as hell.
I'm not even comparing it to Dogg Food, but just listen to Dillinger & Young Gotti, the engineering and mixing, type of samples/instruments etc, the quality is so much better.
Daz's beat quality are now the westcoast equivalent of the No Limit beats back in the late 90's.
It's quality over quantity using basic music software. It's amateurish.

Of course Dillinger & Young Gotti is great, because its co produced and mixed by the great Mike Dean.

Of course Dillinger & Young Gotti is great, because its co produced and mixed by the great Mike Dean. not because of daz.
daz is still able to make good beats, he knows the formula, he is one of those top architects, but he needs dr. dre, mike dean or soopafly to serve something good production wise.

Based off Torpor & Hibernation Shivers I'd say it would be good for him to go that direction. He's just pumping out the same sound for years now.

no doubt .. we workin wit daz for my new album

Everyone has their own opinion on what they like. If we wanna break down the different factors, we can do that but it's not as simple as expressing your opinion, and then insulting that opinion because you're too ignorant to make any valid points.
So....I like all 3 albums...I think I like Daz's the best based on what I like to listen to...
Missionary - say what you want, but sonically/production wise, it's a Dre project so it will be hard to beat in that sense. It's incredible as far as sound quality goes. Lyrically and flow wise, I think Snoop sounds dope as hell. So to be real, it's an incredible piece of art....I like it....BUT I still prefer to listen to what Dre has done in the past...Sue me. Missionary is legit, but not my preference....THANK YOU is my fav song on the album by a mile.
Ice Cube is my favourite rapper of all time. Period. To me (again this is an OPINION), he can't make a bad album or song. BUT there are definitely albums/songs that are better than others. There are some skips for sure, but lots of fun tracks. Flow/rhyme scheme wise...overall it's not his best effort BUT I'll take any Cube album, any time. Furthermore, he still gave us a couple tracks that had the vibe I'm looking for. I got that vibe from Daz's album the most...therefore...the one I like the best.
I am an experienced producer, rapper, writer, performer. I'm capable of judging a project based off any of those areas...
You don't have to agree with an opinion but that's what it is. My opinion on Kendrick, especially his latest album....IT'S FUCKING AWFUL and he is extremely overrated. Many agree with me, many don't. Neither one is wrong.
overall quality:
Missionary
Man Down
Dilly
As a fan:
Dilly
Man Down
Missionary
"D"
-
Of course Dillinger & Young Gotti is great, because its co produced and mixed by the great Mike Dean.
Sadly, so much of this has to do with budgets. Give anything to Dre or producers like Mike Dean and they will make it bigger and better...But if you don't care about charting or selling records, or you're independent....you may not want to spend on those things. Daz has always said that. Cube has always said he prefers not to sample when possible for cost reasons as well....So Tha Dogg Pound sounds their best with Dre/Dean/Wreck/Cat overseeing their stuff...but not what they wanna spend on.....Cube sounds best on grimy sampled records...not what he wants to spend time or money on.
-
Pretty telling how Daz makes an album in a week and Missionary takes 3+ years to make with 50+ people involved and many people are saying Daz’s album is better.
That's only because Daz is our style. I love this album, but it's very niche taste. I live in New Jersey and my coworkers and friends who have listened Missionary out of curiosity, I wouldn't even bother to recommend that they listen to Daz's album because I know he doesn't translate over here. They would rip it to shreds if they listened to Daz's album. And, truthfully, many of them don't even know who Daz is. I'd have to tell them that it's that guest artist from The Chronic and they would vaguely be like, "Oh, yeah."
-
without having to decipher a bunch of hidden messages and codes
This is what a Kendrick album is like to me. It's an exhausting experience. Can he just rap normally without all the constant theatrics that everybody else seems to love?

Mike Dean, one of the greatest mixers and mastering geniuses of all time happened to work with Daz on Dillinger and Young Gotti....that is why..

Daz Dillinger - The Adventures of Dilly Tha Dogg
(https://i.scdn.co/image/ab67616d0000b273f9ddacefb2725421ea1f8bef)
The Adventures of Dilly Tha Dogg is pure West Coast energy, driven by Daz Dillinger’s sharp ear for beats and laid-back yet commanding presence on the mic. Across 12 tracks, Daz balances nostalgic G-funk grooves with subtle modern touches, crafting a sound that’s grounded but never stale. Tracks like “How 2 Become Number 1” and “Don’t Waste My Time” hit with punchy basslines and slick melodies, while “I Love You” brings a surprisingly catchy, softer vibe without losing its edge.
Daz’s production feels more personal here, pulling from his deep-rooted style. The signature funk-infused bounce is unmistakable, and while the album doesn’t stray far from his comfort zone, it’s undeniably consistent. Some tracks lean heavily on familiar elements—talk-box vocals and smooth synth lines—but that’s where Daz shines. A few tracks could’ve used more variety to break up the flow. The overused howling vocal effect is a small distraction but doesn’t derail the experience.
This is Daz doing what he does best: creating music that’s straightforward, infectious, and distinctly West Coast. It might not rival his most iconic work, but The Adventures of Dilly Tha Dogg is a satisfying listen and a reminder of why Daz remains a staple in Hip Hop.
