another part 2 album?!
why?!
-
I don't care for the title either
how many part 2's were as dope as the OGs?
I don't doubt Daz can come out with a banging album however, he usually does
-
Song sounds incredible but he should only call the album that if it's dropping on Death Row. Appears it's just another independent release though.

Daz posted a video on his IG story which looks like the track list for RRGB 2 which in dropping on July 4th, good to see some features from OG DPG & Death Row members plus Ice T, Big Syke, B-Legit & Bo-Rocc 8)
https://www.instagram.com/stories/dazdillinger/3639134620052081903/
-
Looks like the opening track features Kurupt, Soopafly and RBX! There's another track with Kurupt as well. I saw Big Syke, B Legit and Bo Roc on the tracklist as well.
-
Prince Ital Joe too :o
I had a screen shot but my old ass can't figure out how to post it so just added a link to Daz's story if that works.
-
Big ske and ice-t? hmm. can't wait to hear that.
-
Track 1 on the tracklist is actually cut off from the story, it starts at #2.

Calculate the Time
West Coast is the Best Coast (ft. Los)
Get down you clown (skit) (ft. Mac 100)

Looks nice
-
The first RR&GB is one of my favorite albums of all time.
Let's see if he can come close with this. The features definitely look nice. Since he has big syke and prince ital, I'm wondering how old these songs are. Be nice if some were recorded in the late 90s.
-
Destiny single drops tomorrow.

-
20 years ago the track would have been a highlight ,Daz feat . Michael Jackson prod. By Daz .
-
Kinda cool there was a track featuring B. Legit & Bo Roc on the first album & know we getting the same lineup on the second.
Not to mention the other repeat features (Kurupt, Soopafly, Prince Ital Joe).

He just released on insta the whole MJ song and it sounds so bad, the MJ pitch to the beat is completely off, there was a YouTuber that done a MJ feat 2pac ai song and it was epic, this ai MJ sound is off beat. What is up with these artists can they not do anything good anymore. YouTubers out here making better tracks

Close is July 11
-
The question I have is since he's calling it a part 2 will it have any nostalgia value, Easter Eggs, allusions to the o.g album, maybe remixes or remakes of songs from the original, maybe some "Part 2" tracks like "Might Sound Crazy" part 2 or some shit like that wit Too Short comin back on some guests from the old album..
if so then I am interested, cause I'm deeply nostalgic about the 98' release

If im honest, i no longer check for Daz's albums.
There are maybe one or 2 decent tracks that I might download and keep, but the rest will be very generic.
The quality of production has fallen off, Daz's shouty voice is annoying and corny cliche lyrics ain't doing i t
I'll check it out, but I have no excitement if i'm honest.

well I'm a Dogg Pound head...not saying I own all of them but I check for every one
"Dat Nigga Daz" was his last album that came out a few years ago
his last good one imo was "Dazamataz" which could've been really good if it didn't have so many tracks

The artwork on this is very cool. I like the throwback to the original album.
I am hoping this is on the level of Dazamataz. Daz can still put out good albums when he takes his time and works on them. AND he also throws out some quick cash grab albums it seems like he spends a week on. This album feels like he's taken his time on it and has tried to make it good. Guess we'll see.

Because Daz wants to go independent and release it and get more money for himself. Totally makes sense. What advantage would he have releasing this on Death Row? That label name means nothing anymore, and Snoop doesn't push the projects he's already released. Seems like that'd be a total waste of money. If Daz has the means to do it himself and keep all his own publishing, he absolutely should do that.

Confirmed in the Dogg Pound interview last year, Snoop interview earlier this year and kurupt and Death Row Instagram, you just have to google

It doesn't. But it's pretty clear if it happens, it's gonna happen on Death Row.
Kurupt doesn't strike me as the most motivated rapper. If it happens, it's because Snoop pushes it & inspires him.

Daz just did an interview. He said Kurupt's album is coming in July. He said Oct. 31 marks 30 year anniversary of Dogg Food. They are making a movie called "I don't like to dream about getting paid" and it will have a full soundtrack. Also said they are doing a Death Row tour.
So we will see what comes true.

Most Soopafly just uncredited
-
Ivan Johnson is the other one who got a lot of credit.
To be honest...
There are only a few music produced by daz himself only.
-
The Daz/Soopafly combo produced some classic west coast material
his work with Mike Dean was underrated as well

Ivan Johnson, Mike Dean, and Soopafly definitely make for great co-producers alongside Daz.

another west coast artist that cant make a good song or album anymore, its time all the og's just retire, they have all lost it, album isnt good as thought, just a lazy album and rushed to get something out, to think they used to make classic albums. they use the old names for their albums just to bring back nostalgia but it is bad, also daz is a softy, blocks people on insta because he cant take the truth
-
Album is really good IMO.

Death row N-Matez track go hard in the paint

For Daz's level, the album is alright.
I stopped expecting anything special from Daz a long time ago.
To get a very good Daz production again, he needs to work with Soopafly.
When he put his Idea together with Soopafly input, it comes out way better.
-
Am I the only one that finds that yell he puts on every song for the last few years to be annoying? I get it’s like his new signature tag but it’s not only on every song but also repeated over and over in each song. Kinda kills the vibe for me even if I’m feelin the song some.
-
It opens up fire 🔥 best Kurupt sounded on anything in a long time…
This is jumping off way iller than Xzibits album

No, you are not the only one.
I posted earlier in this thread complaining about Daz's yelling delivery!

wack album. wack sound. only 3 songs is good for me and i dont think i will ever listen to those 3 songs again.
West coast is the best coast (reminds me dillinger and youg gotti album vibe)
Start bacc bangin (it sounds like 90s old school daz)
Like a movie (daz and kurupt back and forth always hits different)
rest is garbage. 3 above are also not so special. just average and not bad.
-
What u say my friend? RR&GB is a personal classic. NO skip!

To me rrgb album is not so dope. full of average songs. which songs from that album you are still listening to?
-
Had to come in here to say HOLY SHIT! Best Daz effort in years and the last few weren’t terrible… this is fantastic, no skips basically
-
He'll never match the vibe the line up and the production on this compared to DR RRAGB. Faxx
I think he just about did as good as possible for 27 years later! It’s a banger
-
Looks like the opening track features Kurupt, Soopafly and RBX! There's another track with Kurupt as well. I saw Big Syke, B Legit and Bo Roc on the tracklist as well.
Banger! Loving it!

beside rap music oftenly i've been listening to Σtella - Adagio (album)
beside recent stuff i also oftenly keep listening to "All Day Everyday" album by South Central Cartel nowadays.

nice
i generally can appreciate most west coast releases and i can find something enjoyable in pretty much all of them
xzibit, daz, kendrick, cube, dogg pound, eastsidaz... i thought they were all dope for what they were. i tend to listen to music for the vibe, as opposed to always searching for something groundbreaking
the only recent release i disliked was missionary and that was mostly due to the hype .. because it wasn't even a terrible album, but i listened to it with a certain expectation, which ruined it for me

I understand you. What you expect and what you find crushes sometimes and it makes problem.
I didnt count kendrick album because it belongs to last year. It was dope.
For daz i was expecting something can be comparable to dazamataz. It is not even close.
For cube, it is a dissapointment. His last good album was raw footage.
For Xzibit, actually i was expecting worse and its a decent album. I listened it to there times maybe and im done with it already. There's no song that has a reply value in future for me. where would you rank that album in X's discog? Not even in top 5 right?
Im not a hater, i dont enjoy hating recent releases. Wish they would blow my mind or at least i could find a few songs that i'll be keep listening to all day every day. But i really cant find.
-
Pretty dope album. I like it better than snoop's new one and possibly xzibit's. I only did one listen. I need to hear something at least 5 times to really judge it. But, first listen I think it is one of his top 4/5 albums. That lil' C-style feature was dope as hell. I wonder when that was recorded since he's been locked up for a long time.

^^Agree.
However they got it, lil C Style gave his best on that performance. I also wondered how he was able to get the most out of Kurupt on that opening banger. Kurupt sounded tired and old on his later appearance but the opener were solid. It sounded like they expected Rage to appear on the song and she pulled out last minute — because she’s mentioned twice in the track. It’s clear Soopafly is a big factor on this album coming out solid and probably part of the reason Daz called it a “2” because Soopafly helped a lot to make RRGB o.g the classic it was in 98’.
I’ve only done one complete and thorough listen and the whole album is listenable I didn’t really find much filler. And these are the top bangers in order:
#1. “The Reason” - this was the type of stuff I wanted on Xzibit’s KingMaker I wanted another Napalm “Meaning of Life” type track and Xzibit didn’t give it to me proper but Daz did. Not as good as “Meaning of Life” but still something you can bump on repeat.
#2. “Death Row N-Mates” Soopafly brought Daz back to 98’ on this one this one could open up a concert show, have them bustin out of jail, shit is bananas 🍌 and Kurupt is the good Kurupt we love.
#3. “Ask the Homie Daz” this ain’t really an allusion back to 98’ RRGB but actually takes you back to 94’ “Who Got Some Gangsta Shit”
#4. Calculate Time
#5. Start Back Bangin
#6. Westcoast is Best Coast
#7. Get Bacc - has that DOC sample

That project was at least 10 years ago. So this is an old recording?
-
The album is cool. I give it a 6.5/10.
I expected better, even though the album has some excellent songs, there are some that I don't really like.
Tracks that i dont replay
Like a movie, Set Trippin & Mentally Crazy.
Dope tracks are
Death Row N-Matez, Westcoast Is The Best Coast, Get Bacc, Start Bacc Bangin, We Came To Play, Switch Lanez, Ask The Homie Daz.
-
Is good
I like Album

Death Row NMatez
Retaliation & Revenge
Get Bacc
Start Bacc Bangin'
We Came to Play
Dope records. I don't really care for anything else.

New Lil C Style verse?
it's never been on another release.

The second Kurupt track is exactly why you want Dogg Food 2 on Death Row. What a terrible song. They need someone overseeing the project to ensure crap like that gets left on the cutting room floor where it belongs.
-
on daz site shipping to france is 80€ + 22.95€ the cd, thanks but no i pass

Who rerecorded this video? 🤦🏼♂️

Some of the verses were recorded ages ago, some recent. The MJ sample does sound kinda off, as well as the Prince Ital Joe song on the album, it sound off to me but will give it another listen.

Yeah just compare the Kurupt we hear on the “N-Mates” track to the Kurupt we hear second time around.
Story of his post-Death Row career, he can sound like prime Rakim or like Silk-The-Shocker

Yeah that’s why I said post-Death Row — the Kuruption album was when he moved to Antra/A&M and started showing inconsistency

The album is mixed so bad, the bass is way to loud and some good songs are ruined by the mixing

thats why i aint understand how can anybody compare to king maker????

beats are better but ruined by the mix, xzibits album is just boring and no reply value
-
Was about to ask you this.. thanks for clarify.
I actually heard back from Rage on this years ago. She said everything was completely up to Daz and that he decides when/if it will come out or be completed. She just signs on when she's ready.
I can't recall if I'm imagining this, but I thought I heard they had 6 or 7 songs completed and were planning to finish the album at some point.
-

Kingmaker blows this out the water.

You think Snoop is going to quality control Dogg Food 2? Snoop has so many garbage tracks on his own albums. He needed Dre to do his quality control. Whether Dogg Food 2 is on Death Row or Daz's label, the song selection isn't going to be any better.
I actually don't mind to be honest. We all have different tastes. Let them release a 21 track album, and i'll pick my favorite 10 or 11 tracks and make a great album out of it and trash the rest. I've been doing that for years with both Snoop and Daz's albums. Works great. I'd rather i pick out what songs i think are good than have Snoop or Daz only release 10 track LPs and have all the songs be terrible. I made a classic one disc Dazamataz album taking the best songs from both discs. I'm afraid if Daz would've narrowed it down to one disc, he wouldn't have picked the same tracks I would have, so this works great.

I get your point about Snoop quality control on his own albums but WAWG was a really good album and I can't help but feel that it would've been much worse if Daz was solely in charge.
-

I agree. WAWG is the best DPG album in a very long time. While snoop isn't good at quality control, I think him overseeing projects forces the other rappers/producers to try harder if that makes sense. They actually talked about it in interviews when promoting WAWG.

So you have to spend your money on an album then go back and basically executive produce it and/or a&r it after the fact? That's a lil too much.

Yup. Snoop also brought in a good team of mainstream'ish producers and features.

Yup. Snoop also brought in a good team of mainstream'ish producers and features.
But then ruins it with poor mixing/mastering, songs clearly louder than others. Makes for a bad listen. It’s a shame because it had potential to be a dope ass album. Also, ever time Snoop is overseeing, it basically becomes a Snoop album with Daz and Kurupt vocals. Meaning, it would be songs and producers Snoop would have picked for his own albums. Keeps Daz off the production when the dynamics of Dogg Pound was Kurupt ripping the mic over Daz beats with Daz spittin alongside him. Same thing with the 213 project, how was that not produced by Warren G?
-

Eh, I just look at it like i'm buying a 10 or 11 track album, then i'm getting 10 bonus tracks for free. It's the same price, might as well put as many songs on there as they can and i'll sort them out the way i want to.

I'll never understand why someone of Dad's caliber and catalogue would release something like this with awful mastering. Nothing really sounds crisp, the MJ ''sample'' is weird too....I mean, I like this album, one of his better efforts for sure - but they gotta put some effort into the sound.

Unfortunately, I should’ve ordered the disc to listen in my Camri—but whatever I heard from ITunes sounded crisp and well mastered. Daz was even bragging in an interview about how the album was properly mixed to sound up to par like the OG 98’ album
