How do the guest spots work? Do you just buy a verse and the guests just send you a verse and then you work the song around it? Do you tell them what the general subject of the song is and then Krayzie or MC Eiht construct a verse around that? I assume they aren't coming to the studio and you are actively producing them? Curious of how that behind the scenes stuff works.

it depends on the artist ....
if an artist lives across the country, then obviously we have to work on the track together by building on the phone and text .... others we work with in studio... it's all about whatever the situation calls for. there's multiple ways to make a song in this day and age. roach and rbx have become good friends through the labcabin connection.
one things for sure, we don't craft songs around verses .... everything labcabin related is directed and produced by myself & siavash from inception to completion.

He's been around on the underground scene in Houston .. did work with Rap-A-Lot back n the day .... but pulled his entire catalogue from DSPs a while back over contractual disputes ....
very talented producer and emcee

Thanks for the insight homie, much appreciated. Sounds like it's a little different from what, say a Clint Dogg does, where he just goes and buys a random verse and creates a song around it. I think the way you guys do it is the much better option.

to be fair, clint dogg is in australia and doesn't have direct access to the artists
but yea, 2 different worlds, no doubt

Sorry folks, but there's only so much a Non American can laugh at the state of your country before it becomes an issue. I'll support this on Bandcamp but as for the physical that will have to wait until that orange stained arsholed mouth mutherfucker is in the grave preferably by extremely violent means.
I really wanted to get the CD but ther past few days have changed that. Sooner that pensioner cunt is in the grave the better.

meaning the artists won't even know they're going on the song lol

Save me a copy, would love one but as a Scotsman I have to stick to my guns on this one where that prick is involved unfortunately but I’m really looking forward to it. Have no doubt this will be 3/3. You’re all doing great things and putting in work and it’s so good to see. Got to support anyway. I’ll probably wait until the next BC Friday after release. Every penny counts and even if that’s less than a cent it’s more than what streaming pays. Currently sat in my garden with a beer with my Hibernation Shivers T-Shirt on.
I think as a whole we’re a fair bit away from the death of Spotify etc but the time will come in the next 5-10 years and more forum members need to wake up to that and support.

Enjoyed that, I'll circle around to it later tonight and a few times over the weekend for sure. Storm & So Much were my favourites I think. I just wish it was longer! Hopefully there's more to come from Roach in the future on Labcabin.

I'm just about to start my second listen. So Much was my favourite beat on it. I like that these 3 projects have a recognisable sound running through them. Had Hibernation Shivers vinyl on last night, think I'll do Torpor after Roach! Don't have my CD with me so will grab it from BandCamp.
Actually, thinking on that, would you ever consider releasing Instrumental versions?

so much wasn't originally guna be on this. and the beat was initially overly layered .. we had to simplify it and have the additional sounds lowered drastically to achieve that easy listening sound.
an instrumental version is not in talks now, but could be in the future

That would be good to hear. It's a really good beat. Aa for the instrumentals, i get it. It's not really the done thing outside of VLS/CDS etc where certin tracks see them rel.eased. It's a shame but I also get the protection of the art in that regards.

Ahhhh, is that right?.
So the text details I sent Kokane didnt matter about the song he was singing for us?. Telling MacShawn100 what to say in the chorus etc?. Hrrrrmmmmmmmm and Top Dogg, nah I never told him what to say or say on the chorus either HAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Ms.Toi ok.

I dont tell them what to rap I just buy random verses LOL.

i have nothing bad to say about what u do .... i understand that living in australia makes it more difficult to work with an artist in studio ... you do what u can because you're passionate about it, and that's commendable regardless.
-
In no way am I having a go at you.

Bumpin this again now. Production is on point and Roach just floats on it.

Got it in the mail, gonna do a Track by Track Review. First the packaging, it came in a sleeve, not with the whole liner notes which I was surprised about because RBX liner was pretty detailed. Still nice artwork to fit the theme and back cover and tracklisting was dope—reminded me of buying singles in the 90’s they’d come in the sleeve like this and it’s like Maxi-Single or EP I’m surprised they didn’t list this as an EP 7 tracks but I think the decision was good to keep it at 7 tracks because there was enough room for signature solo joints and Labcabin fam cuts.
1.
Intro 00:51 - dope intro, sets the mood, concept album
2.
Nightstalker (Re-Stalk) [Ft. RBX & Krayzie Bone] 02:49 - best track. Strong opening, seems Labcabin might’ve had this one in the can and then added Roach. But it’s a vintage Krazy Bone joint
3.
Razor Sharp 02:32 - this reminds me of like an album cut from one of those 98’ Prime No Limit solo albums. What they would usually do is have an over-hyped opening track with P and A-List acts on there, maybe a lead single—but then deeper in the album they’d give an artist like Soulja’s Slim or Mister Magic a chance to do a signature solo cut which showcased the featured artist for credibility.
4.
Storm 02:25 A dope solo joint a lot like the previous one—excellent production.
5.
So Much 03:56 — similar to previous two joints
6.
Hiding [Ft. RBX & Sccit] 03:15 — Sccit shines on this one they added some effects to the production so that Sccit comes in clean for his verse and then goes out with a bang also — “Gaza”
7.
Midnight Drive (Re-Verse) [Ft. RBX, MC Eiht, & Sccit] 02:50 - I like the play one words with the Drive being in Reverse (remix) dope remixes because albums used to often have a joint like this at the end sort of like Eminem puttin “Still Don’t Give A Fucc” at the end of SSLP or you turn it into a posse remix type cut like BTN Resserection doing a “this is my family, this is my family” or NWA used to put at end of albums
Overall - it’s a quality project from the production to the mixing, sequences, concept all flows seemlessly plays beginning to end. I have to admit I’m not a fan of the whole Paul Wall southern draw accent whether it’s coming from a black rapper or white rapper I’m not a fan of the South. So that made it harder to like the album and I didn’t like it from the headphones but bumping it in the ride driving around on my good speakers is a different experience came off dope. Solid project to keep up and maintain the Labcabin quality standard.
