Now that GTA, Missionary, Casablanco are all out the way and it's been a few months since them projects, does anyone know what is the next Dr. Dre project? Anyone got any inside info? Or is the man just chilling for now heading into retirement. Surely must be some artist he's working with? Aside from Em
-
He didnt promote both casablanco and missionary. So what if he is working on smth?
-
What are you talking about...Dre promoted the hell out of Missionary. I've never seen Dre promote something so much in years.
-

Drink champs
Jimmy Kimmel show
No music video (only one ai video)
Suddenly they stopped spending money for it after album got released and even snoop acted like it never came out after a few days.

yeah i like that album. i was expecting them to increase the marketing after it came out. as you said they suddenly pulled the plug.
if you put gorgeous and outta da blue as first single of course none would fuck with it.
if they'd have "thank you" as the lead single which is featuring a verse from dr. dre and take a music video for it. it would even have a grammy.

lol naah
nobody was diggin that album like that
"thank you" was ok, but lmao @ grammy
entire album was simply a huge letdown to pretty much everyone who heard it
you opinion is a unique one

I agree too that it's a dope ass album. It's people that fuck with it. I believe it was one of the best produced albums that year easily.

Agreed. It was 'new style' to me rather yhan g-funk on chronic 92

i know there was some fans of it on this forum .. i remember the thread
the general consensus didn't agree

I imagine Dre is working with Cocoa Sarai maybe (although I believe that will most likely be another unreleased Aftermath album in the end if he is). She was on both Missionary and GTA. Not too sure what I make of her sound, singing/rapping. Need to hear a bit more.

I believe with a better marketing and right guest artists, missionary album could have done better commercialy. Dont you see lots of wack shit are making way better streams with better marketing?
However even they could do dopest thing ever they are not current/recent/relevant artists anymore. They are old as fuck and new generation dont fuck with them. Whatever they do, it will never be succesful commercialy.
missionary is far better than compton, its a fact, compton is a compilation (dre calls it soundtrack) which is dre's wackest shit ever.
So im glad dre put out something better than compton. But he should get rid of ICU as soon as possible to drop something really dope.

Missionary was and is trash. Is it a crime is wayyyy better...

for the expectations, it's trash
if it was just some average artist we don't have any expectations from, we could say it's a decent album
but it's snoop and dre lol
compton >>>>>> is it a crime > missionary

I enjoyed Missionary and think it's a more cohesive album than Compton which felt a bit messy with some of the new features, beats and Dre's voice.
Missionary's biggest issue was the expectation of Dre and Snoop doing an album together, which was impossible to satisfy unless they put out a 2001 sequel.

feels the opposite to me
compton seems like a cohesive body of work with all the young'ns n dre getting together in the studio and working on a project together
where as missionary sounds like an overly contrived effort where dre just copy and pasted everything together with no rhyme or reason in attempt to make something different .. almost like a compilation of random tracks and features
i actually started a thread on it earlier on reddit

I don't know I haven't heard but my guess is he's probably going to do a couple tracks for Sccit's debut album Maimonides

Not one track from Missionary would've made a difference as a first single or grammy nomination.
The ICU and Dre combo don't produce hits… that’s been proven for years now.
Overall I liked Missionary, but it didn’t even come close to expectations. I can't name one track that would get in the top 30 songs from Snoops catalogue.

if jimmy iovine, interscope, dr. dre want a song to win a grammy, it happens. but of course they need a banger to push. "thank you" was that banger to me. it doesnt sound ICU at all. it sounds DR MF DRE.
problem is dre shouldnt produce an whole album for somebody. he did relapse for eminem, it failed, he did missionary for snoop, it didnt catch expectations at all. since 2008 dre keeps falling down.
kendrick is genius for not letting dre to produce for himself.

I don’t agree... for a rap song to win a Grammy it usually needs to have some traction with mainstream audiences. Nothing on Missionary had any real connection outside of this forum.
Look at ‘Thank You’ on YouTube, it’s currently sat at 1.1mill views. For a “NEW” Snoop and Dre track off a highly anticipated “reunion album” that’s laughable! Especially considering Snoops public presence and marketability these days.
I think Relapse was a great album personally. Dre was in rare form on the production… but maybe the horror concept/Em's accent choices turned too many off.
Imo it’s still the best thing either of them has put out in the last two decades.
