Title: what would...?
Post by: smerlus on May 28, 2003, 09:49:25 PM
what would make you just stop listening to westcoast rap?

i mean i've seen some shit that's brought me pretty close, death of 2pac, fall of death row, last 2 ice cube cd's, dj quik's "retirement", all the beefs, cancelled/delayed cd's, substandard cd's...

what would make you just say fuck it and never buy (download, for them cheap bastards) another westcoast cd?

i say the last straw for me is this next ice cube cd...if he comes off like snoop and gets some whack ass producers in an attempt to go mainstream, like he's touched on in his last couple cd's, it'll be it for me...

i'll still say fuck it and pick up a quik cd though  ;)

its really hard to see myself never listening to rap ever again.  It is really hard to imagine me being like 40 and playing some spice 1.  But even if new shit just sucked, I would still just listen to old shit.  That is pretty much what I do now, some albums just never get old.

I am a west coast fanatic and producer....so it would have to be somethin completely extreme, like if i got into the game but then all my favorite artists and producers said i had no potential, i was a biter, and they hated my style....thas waay too extreme but thas prolly what it wold take

Maybe when all the OG's are gone. As of now, I don't see any new talent that I can see holding it down for the West.

I would never stop listening to West Coast Rap. I agree that some of the shit that has been coming out has sucked. The shit that's pissing me off about the West Coast tho is that they are divided. Fuck the beefs. Work together & make some damn money. Support your fellow West Coast hip hop artists for fuck sake. There is no promotion for the West & there needs to be. The radio stations on the West need to increase the number of West Coast songs being played & stop playing so much East Coast shit. The West needs to promote ITSELF. I realize that promotion costs money but damn, if you want sales, you need to promote your shit. I mean, look at Sly Boogy, if it wasn't for the internet, most of us wouldn't even know who he was or that he was coming out with an album. Shit pisses me off.

But like I said, I will never stop listening to West Coast rap.
