Rapper RBX has sued Spotify, alleging that the Swedish audio company has failed to stop the artificial inflation of music streams for artists like Drake and is hurting the revenue other rights holders receive through the platform.
RBX, whose real name is Eric Dwayne Collins, is seeking a class-action status and damages and restitution from Spotify. RBX, along with other rights holders, receive payment based on how often their music is streamed on Spotify, according to the lawsuit, filed in U.S. District Court in L.A. on Sunday.
Surprised that this hasn't been talked about. I guess RBX doesn't have anything to lose, but didn't Drake attempt to sue Spotify initially and was forced to voluntarily dismiss his claim?

This tells a lot about the people here. This is a big step, especially in the current state of the music industry. Its something to care about
-
I'm probably one of the few who doesn't use Spotify, but I also don't listen to a lot of current music
mostly my old CDs and when the veterans come out with something new Ill just cop the album, sometimes unfortunately so like "Missionary"

It is an interesting case, just think it's funny, of all the people to bring this to a head, it's RBX. Dude, people aren't listening to your music in 2025 because it sucks. Not because AI bots are 'listening' to Drake and taking away your streams lol.
You're right though, RBX has nothing to lose, might as well throw something out there for a quick money grab.

Although RBX initiated the case, more people will come forward and keep in mind that they are not suing Drake, they are using him as an example. its basically The Artist vs The Record label
-
yeah, this does make me think though... if you were an artist, and you get paid off streams, and you figured out a way to get bots to stream your music thousands and thousands of times, it seems like a hard thing to police

I think it is difficult to police unless you have a huge discrepancy with someone getting like 10 billion streams or something crazy ... and how much do they really make off of it? I remember they got very little off of each album sold in the 90's and 00'
-
RBX figured he would get a little exposure because of what Drake did, lol. I'm seriously struggling to understand why fans care so much if an artist uses bots or not. It doesn't impact the quality of the music unless you like an artist based on how much they sell. Hell, labels were doing it before streaming was a thing.

Actually RBX has over 1mil monthly listeners on Spotify.
But the 60 Daz albums to come out the last year are better right????
Daz has 177k monthly listeners btw

Daz has just over 400k monthly. The reason RBX has that many monthly streams is because he’s listed as a feature on two of the singles from the Chronic (Dre Day and Let Me Ride). If you take the Chronic out of both Daz and RBX’s stream numbers, I would bet money Daz gets more monthly streams. I’m not saying that has anything to do with quality of the music, just that Daz is more popular/known.

where are u getting this 400k monthly? industry standard is spotify numbers .. daz is at 178k
also if you take away magic johnson's 5 championship titles then larry bird becomes better

Ok so on Spotify there’s “Daz” and then there’s “Daz Dillinger.”
Daz = 410k (This is the artist listing where his Chronic credits go, and other features)
Daz Dillinger = 178k (this is where the bulk of his solo catalog is)
The Chronic is skewing both of their numbers, so when you filter that out from both of their catalogs, Daz is clearly going to be ahead of RBX as RBX doesn’t have a single song of his own with over a million streams, while Daz has numerous.

yea but u tryna take the fact that rbx worked on bigger tracks away from his legacy .. doesn't work like that
not sure daz has a grammy .. rbx has one for let me ride tho
there's no doubt that daz has done a much better job wit self promoting and releasing independent albums
difference being, rbx needs someone to hold his hand in order to drop music while daz stays very motivated all on his own
rbx is currently working with roach which explains why the quality of his last couple solo singles have dropped off drastically

I'm not trying to do anything but show that people seek out Daz to listen to more than they do RBX and I think the fact that RBX doesn't have a single solo song with more than a million streams while Daz has numerous proves that point.
Nobody is listening to Dre Day because RBX says a couple words between verses, and afaik that was his only contribution to that song. I'll give you Let Me Ride since he wrote it or it was originally his song or whatever. The grammy thing is cool but not really relevant to the point I'm making.

Is Roach a label or a person?

roach is a rapper/producer who dropped an album on Labcabin Records
-
So X and Roach left the label and make music on a other label??

we still rockin wit X but he always had his Premeditated Entertainment label as well .... Roach was frustrated that nobody cared about his album and took it out on Labcabin as if it was our fault lol.... he then put all his chips in helping X build up Premeditated Ent- making him t-shirts, producing new songs for him, etc. etc.
We don't have time for all that because we been working hard on Maimonides
Roach is also the person behind X's Spotify lawsuit btw .. dudes always been the "ima sue you!!!" type .. when we were dealing wit him it became evident to us that he was more passionate about "paperwork" and "law" than the actual music.
