ok, for once west coast rappers have FINALLY dominated the power 106 playlist again. YOUNG ROSCOE HAS MADE IT TO THE NUMBER ONE SPOT ON BOTH TITO AND FELLI'S PLAYLISTS. yet i find it strange that i NEVER hear that shit on the radio station on power 106, neither did i hear daz on the radio when he had the #1 spot. yet every other rapper that's on the top 4/top 7 list gets played 24/7. may i ask what the fuck is going on? i got much love for the east, but dont you think its fucking time that our OWN shit gets played?

Yep...i agree..i posted a simliar thread awhile ago...its bullshit how the westcoast radio stations are mostly supporting shit from the eastcoast...while the eastcoast stations never play westcoast music...fuck all of em.

thank all of you guys. it is great to know the west is even supported from different countries.
we need to start off with the radio playing our own shit. that's like the first step to recovery. all of the old california djs (theo and all of the old djs) played westcoast shit 24/7 during 90's when west coast rap was its peak of fame. now our djs play nelly and and a buncha corny fags that nobody gives a fuck about. if we could just get the west coast talent on the radio, then we'd be getting somewhere.
im sick of this regional bias shit. while the aftermath shows undying love to the east, wc and jayo felony get fucked over at defjam records. little do the fans know that while defjam wasn't doing shit during the death row/bad boy domination, warren g was out there making his paper for def jam.
and then we see the locksmith, who murdered the living shit out of reign man in the def jam contest. and don't give me that marketable crap, because the reign man's style was flat out boring as hell. at least locksmith cracked a few humorous punchlines here and there. hell, did u guys hear the comments they made between the rounds?

sorry, like i said earlier, i got much love for the east. a few of my favs (pharoahe, rakim, talib, mos def, method man, 50) are from the east coast... but shit man. can't they show a rapper from cali (an ALIVE rapper who isn't dre or snoop) some love every now and then?

my favourite radio station is bbcs 1xtra i definatly recomend giving it a listen it plays a good mix of british and american hiphop

U feel the exact same way I feel. I only listen to the beat when 106 is havin commercials, because they play the SAAAME hitlist shit i hear down south and on the east coast. I always say the west will never do shit if the west radio stations dont support the west.

Word, 1xtra is pretty tight. Rodney P and Skitz is a dope show on Monday nights, and there is an independent hiphop show on somewhen as well but I can't remember when.

that's why me and my partner put together the West Coast Connection radio show that gives airplay to strictly west coast artists. Unfortunately we only are able to broadcast through Monterey and Santa Cruz County in Central Cali but soon we'll hopefully be reaching San Jose when we upgrade the station. We play artists like E-40, Too Short, Mistah FAB, The Click, Planet Asia, Roscoe, Living Legends, Del, Hieroglyphics, Grouch, San Quinn, EA Ski, Nate, Snoop, Dre, DPG, Roscoe, Sly Boogy, jurassic 5, dilated peoples and so on. We play gangsta and independent rappers too. If you want tapes of our shows. Now every week we have on a special west coast artist guest and lately we've had B-Legit, San Quinn, E A Ski, Mistah FAB, and Sly Boogy on the show. Tapes of B-Legit & Sly Boogy are still available w/ exclusive freestyles and interviews and music and what not. And when we broadcast again in september we already have booked artists like E-40, Too Short, Mack 10, Yukmouth, and others to come on the show in september-october. honestly i havent listened to the radio in like 5 or 6 years, the last time i listened was when Julio G had that westside show on 92.3 the beat on fridays from 8 to 10. That was the only time i would listen otherwise naw i hate the fuckin radio, same songs all day long

fuck damizza...that foo is a straight up bitch...yea sure he collabs with quik...caz...etc...but he hardly plays them...hed rather play 50 cent/jay-z/camron every 5 minutes...and the beat...fuck the beat....they get rid of the wake up show...then they get rid of the greatest radio personality of our time...julio g...fuck them...thats why i never play the radio...fuck a summer jam and fuck a powerhouse...look whos at powerhouse...yea they show a whole lot of love to the west...fuckin hoes...

I feel ya'll Fuck Power 106 and fuck the Beat. They play wack ass shit all day. And the only west coast Shit that Power Plays is shit related to Damizza, and that shit is Wack. Shade Shiest is Wack why the fuck is he on the radio. I know a lot of you like Westside Connection but Im not feeling Ice Cube talking about Jesse Jackson, and Wack-10 Talking about robbing peeps at a party. I wouldnt mind hearing some Rass Kass, or some of the liks, that new J-Ro is bangin, I cant hate on htem playing 50 because he is he hottest rapper right now but why the fuck are they playing Black eye peas that song is wack a fuck.

I see it like this. Westcoast music right now has finally started picking up it's art form again. The last time the west was heavily played was 99 when Dre fucked it up with 2001. Before that was 1998 when everyone was putting out alright records, but the DMXs and Jay-Z took over the air. After the 2001 phase, radio went back east, but now I hear some good westcoast shit. But labels are on some bullshit. Will someone please tell Priority that Ras Kass is a great fuckin' artist, and to release Goldyn Child already. The west needs young artist, like Ras Kass, Knoc'turnal, even Shade Shiest, Roscoe, and all them people, 'cause the west should start fuckin up the game about now. Though radio play on Power 106 would help a lot. 106 hasn't been the same since the Baka Boyz left, 'cause they used to be in charge of the rotation, and they left because management wanted to get away from the more hip-hop/street type rap they played, and compete with the Beat and play more R&B and softer rap. That marked the end of Power 106. The Beat, the Beat died when the got sold, and moved to 100.3, well even before that, but hey, I'm a Power listener.

a little more onto the subject of the future: ras kass. lyrically, ras can tear up ANY mutha fucka (from west or east), but hes gonna be in jail for a while so lets count him out temporarily.
KNOC-TURN'AL. when my cousin from brooklyn came to my pad for a bit, there were some knoc-turn'al songs (muzik and all about the doe) in his east coast dominated mp3 player. i asked him what knoc was doing in there, and he said a lot of his friends are feeling knoc's shit, especially a track called "what is life" and told me that it was really deep and poetic (i still cant find that track, if someone has it, then hit me up please). i must say, coming from someone on the east, i was impressed.
as for shade sheist, he had one really shitty start. his entire debut cd didnt have a single fucking solo track on that shit, and that was quite dissappointing. his production is nice, but we were hoping he would impress us more on a lyrical level. then, i heard his interview where he talked about all the negative criticism he has been getting, and that he would show us what he was truly made of now that he is a free agent. i laughed at that moment, but then went on to hear his newest track "rude awakening". my god, did shade sheist rip that track up. you can tell he was pissed when he made that, but nevertheless, his verse was off the hook. if he continues to do shit like this, then the future looks bright for shade.
and of course theres the game, sly, and crooked i lol.
