Hey people, what's a good program for making gfx for album-covers, avatars and so and such.. ??
Not too simple, but not to advanced neither.. not something you'll have to take a course to learn.
I been using Adobe Photoshop, and as it's a old ass version, it's time to renew things..

Photoshop has the steeper learning curve, but you do get more power with it.
PSP is cool for basic things. I would say try PSP and if you can't do what you want with it switch up to Pshop.

I think I will try out Paintshop Pro 8.0 first..
PC-magazine PC World had a test where they tested the 4 closest competitors to Adobe Photoshop, and as Photoshop is 10-14 times more expensive than all of the others, they used Photoshop as a reference.. as compared to the others, and not compared to anything in it's own price-range.
And they wanted to test the best program for the regular PC-user, not the professional PC-user, and if the programs was worth the price.
A steep learning curve results in lower score..
The results:
1. Jasc Paint Shop Pro 8 - 9.0 points
2. Adobe Photoshop Elements 2.0 - 8.9 points
3. Adobe Photoshop 7.0.1 - 8.8. points
4. Ulead PhotoImpact 8 - 8.0 points
5. Roxio PhotoSuite 5 Platinum - 6.0 points
In their opinion, #1 and #2 was better than Photoshop because they are easier to use, and gives more for the money..
Also, Photoshop doesn't deserve the retarded high price, and is very difficult to use.
