Ice Cube, Mack 10, Others Sign On For "True Crime"

Game maker Activision has signed Ice Cube and a variety of West coast hip-hop artists to provide tracks for the upcoming game, True Crime: Streets of L.A.
Ice Cube, Mack 10, WC, E-40, EZ E Jr., KAM and 187 (Above the Law) will all provide music for the game, which is similar in concept to the Grand Theft Auto franchise.
A double CD soundtrack will also be released featuring the music from the game, as well as selected classic hiphop tracks.
"It is amazing to see some of hip-hop's top West Coast artists come together to create original tracks for our game," Chris Archer, executive producer, Activision Worldwide Studios said. "Hiphop music is the voice of the urban lifestyle and capturing the gritty, raw sounds of the streets is an essential part of the True Crime: Streets of LA gaming experience."
The game features almost 250 square miles of Los Angeles for players to fight, drive and shoot through as they fight the Russian and Chinese mafia and embark on a variety of missions.
True Crime already features the voices of such celebrities as Christopher Walken, Gary Oldham and Michael Madsen.
"This video game has all the action of a hardcore action film -- Ain't nothing soft about it and Ain't nothing soft about the sound track," added Bigg Swoop, President and CEO of Vybe Squad Records, the label that pulled the artists together and that is issuing the soundtrack.
True Crime: Streets of LA will be available this fall for the PlayStation2, the Xbox and Nintendo's GameCube.

Weird that the game is called True Crime: Streets Of L.A. and then you tackle the Russian and... What? CHINESE mafia? Never heard of that... Anyway, the name is Streets of L.A., and the content is about organized crime. Oh well. Should be a dope soundtrack at least.

In a way it would be dope if they had real gangs, but that would stir up waaaaaaay too much controversy, and civil rights leaders would complain about the game bein racist and all.
Damn tho that would be sick if they had a bloods n crips game, and u could control either one, and it had real rappers, atheletes, etc. who really used 2 bang haha. Drivin down the Shaw, seein bloods at Century and Manchester then seein crips at Florence and Slauson, that would be tooooo sick

??? u never knew there was chinese mafia? the Triads??? they are one of the biggest crime organizations in the world...they been around for a LONG ass time...and with the Japanese Yakuza...those 2 are some of the most feared crime organzations in the world...even the japanese government can't do anything bout the yakuza cuz they're so damn big....u should read bout em if u have time...its some crazy shit.

I actually watched some preview of this game, and it did look alright, but to be honest it just seemed to be a cheap inmitation of the Grand Theft Auto games more than anything. It was basically the same but with slightly better graphics but much worse shooting and driving, although the hand to hand combat did look pretty dope.
However, it all seemed to be set in like inner city LA, and didn't seem to have any "hoods" in the game from what I saw of it.
