Cypress Hill's B-Real Forms New Group - 6/12/2003
After introducing rap fans to The Psycho Realm in the 90's, Cypress Hill emcee B-Real is getting ready to unleash his latest side project - the Serial Rhyme Killaz. The new group is comprised of rappers Willie Malo and Son, better known as Mellow Man Ace and Son Doobie of Funkdoobiest, respectively. The group is shopping for a label deal and hopes to release its debut album, "Deluxe Rapture", later this year.
Long tied in with the Cypress Hill extended family, Son and Willie Malo
ironically had never rapped on a song together. That all changed when B-Real got them in the studio to record a song for his solo project, noticed how well their styles worked together and decided to put together the Serial Rhyme Killaz.
"Deluxe Rapture" will feature production from B-Real's Audio Hustlers crew, which also includes Cypress Hill drummer Eric Bobo and Fear Factory bassist Christian Olde Wolbers.
Alchemist and Fredwreck Nassar also are likely to contribute beats. Guest rappers will include B-Real protege XL, possible Jacken from The Psycho Realm and most definitely Everlast on the posse cut "Family Ties". Meanwhile, guitarists Jeremy Fleener of SX-10 and Rogelio Lozano of Downset are expected to contribute to the project. And appearances by the Hill's Sen Dog and DJ Muggs aren't out of the questions.
"When I approached my writing, it was always in the aspect of a dark vibe, dark mood, ominoustype sh!t," B-Real said. "So I guess sometimes in the beats it reflects that still. I mean, some sh!t is like party-type beats, some are for thought, some are just to groove to. There's a little bit of everything, I guess. But it's definitely got a little bit darker edge."

Yes on both. (Except that those two really rock-type of tracks on Stoned Raiders aren't to my liking... Trouble and Amplified. But the rest is all good...)
