no surprise that snoop is rumored to have puffy executive produce his album...snoop will do anything to sell records anymore....thats analyze the history that further proves snoop being a sellout
snoop sees death row starting to fall apart slowly and instead of trying to stay real to his roots and faithful to those who helped him before he was famous(suge...do you really blame suge for hating him) he bolts to no limit which is at the time the hottest company in hip hop...so snoop goes to whom he can try to make the most money..changing everything about his rap style...and production selection
next..snoop sees no limit fading some so he goes to what is hot at the time and its dre resurfacing .... totally forgets about any of his no limit hookups since they arent quite as popular anymore(do see any x no limit artists on his albums anymore??)
then dres production starts loosing some popularity(until 50s album) so snoop gets with the current popular producers the neptunes...makes an album with them...throw in a couple of other popular guests ...(jayz, luda) and snoop is just doing whatever he can to sell a record
and now snoop continues to do whatever the happening thing is and have puffy produce his album...its utter bullshit and discraceful...and i dont blame suge for hating snoops ass...look at what he did do for him(snoop would be locked up now if suge hadnt helped him) and then snoop bolts on him when he's down...i cant believe peps still support him....how many more wack albums is this guy gonna make before some peps get of his dic

Damn, when you break it down like that it really does make him look like a big ass SELLOUT.
-
damn....you did break it down to the smallest compound
-
when things dont work out, people leave.. its that simple
according to you:
Death Row Sellouts:
Snoop Dogg
Dr Dre
Daz Dillinger
Kurupt
Soopafly
.. ... ...
No Limit Sellouts:

-
I agree. I hate to admit it, and I wish it wasn't true, but snoop is a sellout. Kurupt is a sellout too. I wouldn't consider dre a sell out, he is just smarter than 98% of the industry.
-
I donno...it is weird with Puffy doin his album....DAMN I just thought about it, Puffy doin a Snoop album?? Wow......but as far as him leaving Death Row and No Limit I was all for it on both occasions. He was prolly tired of all the BS that was goin on at Death Row, and the 2Pac death was also part of it just not as big a part as he said...but I am sure he was sick of Suge Knight and all that went down with Tha Row. He left No Limit since it was only a three-album deal.
I donno tho, I'd still say that Dre is more of a sellout than Snoop, because Snoop still uses Battlecat Fred Wreck and Jelly Roll, and he still tries to help out the newcomers from the West who probably won't ever blow up. At least he takes chances, like with Bad Azz and Doggy's Angels
-
Sellout or Not who's making money?, Who's One of the Biggest on the Industry?
Im not really down with Puffy being behind board with Snoop ,But I doubt it will happen'd ,I cant see Snoop coming with a new album next year, so he might change is mind (I hope so)
-

snoop doesn't use those producers a whole lot anymore. And wtf about warren G, Daz, Soopafly? He never uses them. And Bad Azz was never on doggystyle recordz, snoop was taking no chance with that. He only took a chance with doggy's angels, and that was one of his worst decisions. Talk about taking chances- Dre signed a fucking white boy!!! Now IMO that is the biggest gamble made in rap history. Dre took many of chances- Truth Hurts, King T, Hittman, etc. Dre is just a smart man. Why should he spend a bunch of money to put out King T and Hittman when he knows that they ain't gonna sell shit? When dre puts out an artist, it isn't well known all over the album that dre was a part of it. Take for instance Eminems albums. The avg person is not gonna know how big a part Dre had in the album. Then you take doggystyle allstars or welcome to the church and snoop is all over that shit. He is on that shit way more than the younger troops like e-white, soopafly, daz, rbx, etc.

How is Dr. Dre a sellout? And Snoop plays it more safe than Dre.
-
blaming Snoop for leaving Death Row is stupid
Suge didn't the artists their money so what are they supposed to do
RBX left for the same reason he just though it was Dre who was to blame so he dissed him till he found out it was Suge
-
Warren G said something in his forum couple days ago... In a reply to someone who didn't like Snoop on Neptunes etc. beats and didn't like the production and guests on Nate's new album(s)... Something like "Niggaz always follow the current trends... that's the way it is." True, Snoop has always rolled with the hottest crews, but why blame him? I know I wouldn't roll with a wack crew if somebody was doin' it bigger and better. I won't deny it though, Snoop's sold out to a lot of crews, but IMO he never sold out to his fans, and to me, that's what matters.
-
How is Dr. Dre a sellout? And Snoop plays it more safe than Dre.
I won't strait up say Dre is a sellout, but I would say that Dre is more of a sellout than Snoop...I see it this way. When Dre first started, the East coast didn't give half a fuck about him...ALL he had was West Coast support. Without the artists and fans from the West, Dre wouldn't be where he is now. I am 100% sure Def Jam woulda never signed him.
Now That Dre is big, he is AALLLLWAYS doin shit with East Coast artists, and barely ever doin shit with West Coast artists. He has Cube and The Game signed but other than that, most of his moves in the last few years have been strictly East Coast. I won't jus say he is a sellout, but I mean he is doin things with the East because he knows that is where the money is.
-
I'm tired of everybody complaining how Dre don't do music with West Coast people anymore! Shut the fuck up already! I'm a huge fan of West Coast rap, it's the best sound ever, but in the end of the day I don't care where the artist is from! "Niggaz need to forget about this West Coast - East Coast bullshit, get together and make some money!" Dre said that on Nas' album It Was Written. Music is universal, free your minds!!!

come on u really think snoop leaving deathrow was a sellout move suge was paying him rite and he wasn't aloud to work with who he wanted to, and suge wudn't let him move to where he wanted if he had his way he'd of probably went to def jam
he left no limit to be on his own label where he cud have have full control of what he did and to reep the benefits of that too i can't hate on that
what is wrong with diversifing working with new people? if he didn't every1 wud complain that snoops sound is redundent making the same old music
think about what your saying but i suppose if your in the spotlight you will be critised for whateva you do, you can't make everyone happy.

lol, bullshit post IN MY OPINION

easy to spot the groupies/dic riders, some can find an excuse for anything for their beloved snoop ::)...and excellent point bringing up warren g's post...i think he felt the same way and you could tell in his post....face it snoop is pretty much a puppet that goes to whatever the fad is...and will continue to do it...how's come he dont work with daz anymore...bet you anything that if daz started producing hits again that went mainstream...snoop would be working with him in a second...master p starts dropping hits agian...snoop would be working with him again...unloyal individual...sickening actually when you really think about it with an open mind.....
oh what do you really think about his show on mtv....come on give me a break ::)

the east cares. the south cares. why the fuck shouldnt the west care? most people say shit like "there is no west coast without dre so quit complainin bout him". and i agree, there is no west coast without him, and THATS EXACTLY THE FUCKING PROBLEM. aint nobody payin attention to the finest westcoast artists if the king of the west aint gonna pay attention to them.
i dont really consider dre a sellout tho... snoop, i do. but the biggest fucking sellout (not including veterans like ll cool j) is probably jay-z.

Well surprisingly (this is sarcasm, for those who don't understand), somebody has missed the point......
He's not saying Snoop's a sell out for LEAVING Death Row. Snoop left and went with the biggest thing out at the time {No Limit}, then hooked back up with Dre who was biggest at the time, and now the Neptunes.
The people you named on the list (Daz, Soopafly, Dre, etc) did not bounce back and forth to the biggest/most popular thing around at the time. Same with the people that left No Limit. They did quite the opposite. Everybody stayed true to their OWN style and did not compromise to sell albums.
-
lol..they still find a way to defend him..their dedicated..
-
lol@if u dont agree with the post or if sum cats defend snoop you a groupie/dickrider, bitch pleeeeeeeeeez, haha another thing thats funny is my karma goes down after my post, lol someone must have touchy feelings over snoop, haha niggaz is bitches

Exactly 100% on point. What if Snoop kept working with the same beats and the same people , It would be the same fucking Snoop album Over and Over again....Snoop is dope cuz he keeps shit moving. He keeps putting out the hot shit and moving with the times. Thats what makes him a legend.
-
Why do you all still cares about him? There's better music than Snoop's one.

lo limit were willing to "release him" from his contract.. snoop accepted, he signed a 3-album contract, and left after the contract was ended... whats wrong with that??

ur missin the point, what he is tryin to say is when snoop leaves a lable he goes to the hottest thing out there. he doesnt stay tru to his roots in anyway.
-
Damn, I guess the coast will never stop hating on each other.... I guess everyone likes all the wacc southern videos on RAp City... Stop hating and support the Coast!!!
Big Snoop can do what he wants on his solo albums from now on.. He deserves to collect some loot for the work he has put in... Especially if he gives us the Gangsta shit on the projects like the Eastsidaz & 213... He leads by example and shows that u can still be down with the gangs and still do big thangs business wise... Holla

People complain about wack ass Fabolous, poppy P.Diddy, mainstream Neptunes.. but when Snoop works with them.. it's all gravy, cuz he's expanding his horizon right ??
Fuck outta here.

Just saying.. all these people on the Westcoast part of the forum are complaining about all the Eastcoast-music on the radio, often naming cats like Nelly, Ja Rule, Fabolous, Benzino, J.D., P.Diddy, Lil Kim, Freeway, Neptunes, Jay-Z even 50 Cent they complaining about..
Then, you might notice a SUDDEN change.. SNOOP DOGG have agreed to work with them...
(Counts for almost all the people mentioned above)
Suddenly the attitude is totally different.. "Snoop expands his horizon", "Snoop can work with who he wants, it's dope anyway", "Snoop and Fabolous, ohh that's awesome".. etc.
Blasphemy & hipocritsy at it's best.. easily seen by those who don't adore EVERYTHING Snoop does.
-

First, I would never hate on Puff. He produced All I Need (remix) for Method Man, Step Into A World (remix) for KRS-One, and endless Biggie cuts, and Craig Mack's early days. Yeah Puff sold out, but at least he had a real hip-hop background, and allows himself to work with others. Snoop working with Puff is like Jay-Z working with Dre. Jay-Z was a great rapper, Dre a producer that makes a number of radio hits. Snoop was a great rapper, and Puff made a number of radio hits. In the end, it's the same, and no one disses Dre for making Watcher 3. I don't hate on Snoop, why. His put in 11 years, and done his thing. If he sold out, fine, at least he kept it gangsta for all this years. Nelly, Fabolous, they still need to build a rep, Snoop has his, and it's all good.
-
damn jome, your post makes you an underated genius. i've been saying that shit since i started posting here...there's some people that fucking love snoops dick so much that it's sickening...snoop has done EVERY bitch move that any other rapper out there has done...
love songs...nelly, ja rule
fake gang banging at his age....xzibit
whack ass lyrics...kurupt
selling out his coast...dre
trying to go mainstream...eminem, ja rule...
the only difference is that you can make fun of any of those just named, and it's ok...but as soon as you say something about snoop...there goes the karma and the thread flaming. snoop dickriders are the biggest hypocrits on this board
-
*rolls eyes* Kids
basically, no rapper really deserves to get dissed. They all do their thang. Except Nelly, who had the guts to diss KRS-One which disrespects Hip-Hop's past. All others are fine, there's always been commerical and streets. So whatever. Snoop never sold out, and Puff is alright. I never hated Puff. The other shit, it's all good. I never hated Ja, sided with 50 on the beef, but I don't hate Ja. Fabolous is alright, reminds me of a young Fresh Prince. And I write heavily about why not to diss Will Smith. So whatever. Snoop doing his thang, Puff doing his thang. Haters can hate and sleep, but in the end, Snoop still making money.
-
lol the guy callin us kids is still in school...that's the funny part...but anyways...i can't agree with you more, i have nothing against any of those rappers....i'm just not going to waste my money buying some sorry pop shit. if i think your music sucks....plain and simple, i don't buy it...that's why i have only 5 snoop cd's (greatest hits included)
-

OK I got you on that... But it's possible to not feel an MC until an MC U do like colabs with them and you see the other Cat in a new lite... SNoop has ALWAYS put in work with crazy different performers... SNoop has given love to everyone.... So it's only makin news now cuz of the song he just got that award for... So people that bang for Snoop are doin a change up now on how they feel towards those radio artist you mentioned cuz Snoop is down with it... Everyone needs to realize that in Hip Hop, you can bang for your favorites WITHOUT tryin to tear down others...
-
lol the guy callin us kids is still in school...
Yeah, his also a senior in college and 22.
-
been there...done that
-
And still a hater. I don't know if situations are different, but if you check my sister and my story, we weren't exactly raised to go to college. So being from the barrio, I guess you can say I sold out, and left the street ways for a book. Not exactly the same thing, but it's simular. Snoop does his thang, let him, don't hate on it. Just don't buy it. This is a fan forum, I think anyone that has to come the here to diss people is throwing away their time. For reals, on a westcoast board, you hav to come here and talk about how Snoop has sold out. Sad.
-
That was well broken down, to me Snoop is a huge sellout, hearing Beautiful playin makes me cringe, I want to see the chuck wearing, braided snoop dogg with his original homies, Snoop doesnt need anyone else behind the boards xcept Warren, Soopa, or Daz, just Snoops name alone can sell a record, yeah he isnt sellin as much as he used to, hmmmmm maybe cos u changed your style, if it isnt broke then why fix it,
People see Snoop as that LBC Gangbanger, not a pimp, not a lover not anything else, so when they see him like this he aint gonna be popular, stay true to yourself, dont be a follower of fashion, cos fashion has seasons
I still love Snoop Dogg, but I agree that he is a sell out.
-
Him and LL Cool J are probably the two biggest sellouts in the industry. I'm not counting people like Nelly and Ja Rule because they were never anything but commercial, but both LL and Snoop were dope and then changed in order to maintain their popularity.
Daz, Kurupt and Soopafly were not sellouts for leaving Death Row, one, because they all stayed until 99-2000, when they hadn't been payed for ages. If Death Row hadn't been in such a bad financial situation then I think all of them would have stayed. Secondly, they all went and continued doing their west coast thing, which is certainly something that it is very hard to say about Snoop.
-
People complain about wack ass Fabolous, poppy P.Diddy, mainstream Neptunes.. but when Snoop works with them.. it's all gravy, cuz he's expanding his horizon right ??
Fuck outta here.
On point.
-
I agree Snoop is a pop artist, but I don't mind it, man he's been in the came since 1988(the 213 demo) and he has to be able to do what the fuck he wants to, and get his paper.
Only one thing about your post VerbalAssault, you claim he left Death Row for No Limit, because he saw how he could make more money over at Master P's label, but the fact is that Suge hustled Snoop for alot of $$ and Snoop didn't wanna become the next rapper dead. That's why he changed label. A dumb move to go to No Limit in my opinion, altough he had to get outta Death Row.
-
what i find funny is.....2/3'd of you JUST bought doggystyle no more than 2 years ago. i put my DICK on that
as a OG snoop fan from 92' who has experienced all of his changes, i don't call snoop a sellout. i call him a smart dude/artist who knows what he's doing. all of you want him to make g-funk and rap about gangsters and bitches and weed and keep making doggystyle. that was 10 years ago......10 years ago we were all playing with ninja turtles eating glue and singing the alphabet.....if we've changed THAT much imagine how much snoop has changed. he's gone from a 19 year old felon from long beach to a millionair rapper with kids and a wife. i'm sure half of our parents wouldn't do the things they did in the 70's now would they?
snoop .....or anyother big name westcoast cat don't do g-funk no more becuase it's played out! it had a healthy 8 year run and it was time to evolve. obviously 80% of this board were never around during the peek of this era ....so how are they going to understand the fallout of this sound. most of you think g-funk is as old and fresh as the newest j-lo song, lol.
i don't think snoop works with warren daz and whoever else you mentioned , becuase they're still stuck in that era ....and snoop is trying to grow. it would be one thing to totally turn his back on his friends and not HANG with them......but that's not true. a sell out would not do what snoop is doing.
when i see a song Snoop Dogg Featuring Nelly or something i get pissed yeah , cuz fuck i hate nelly. but then you got to remember like you so elequently stated before , he's only using these star of the moment cats to reach out to the next generation of hip hop fans, to keep his name out there. he's not going to have a long standing working relationship with them . y'all got to understand that. i'd call snoop a sell out if he was all over the next nelly and st lunatic albums and talking in country gramar saying hot in herre and shit like that. nah he does his thing with them and moves on.
you also got to remember SNOOP HAS NOTHING TO PROOVE anymore. everything he does is for fun and love of it nowadays . i don't blame him one bit.
man i really don't feel like going into in depth detail about snoop's career choices, but everything he does is for a reason and i think the only reason why you people are still getting snoop records is cuz snoop knows the importance of musical growth.
-
That last post said exactly what I'm thinking. Props!
-
d i think the only reason why you people are still getting snoop records is cuz snoop knows the importance of musical growth.
And what about people who aint still getting snoop records? I think he has lost a lot of fans? (one is me)
-
i think he has sold out. if u read the warren g interview u'll understand why. snoops the reason for all the other producers and non-westcoast guest apearances on the 213 album. that suxks.
peace

Thats Exactly what I think ...The G funk sound is new to them cause most of them are 15-16-17 dont tell me y'all were bumpin Chronic or DoggyStyle 10 years ago ::)

Well, I've listened to Snoop since "Deep cover" when I was 12 years old and I still call Snoop a sell-out.
