Interscope Records are planning to release a 10 Year Anniversary tribute to Snoop Doggy Dogg's 1993 Release Doggystyle just as Priority Records did to NWA- Straight Outta Compton in 1998. The Interscope release will feature current Hip-Hop stars performing all the songs from the 1993 Interscope/Death Row release. Artists already signed up to the project so far are 50 Cent, Cam'Ron, Fat Joe, Murphy Lee, Lloyd Banks, Ludacris, Keith Murray, Redman, Black Rob and Butch Cassidy. The album will be released in January 2004 through Interscope Records.

DOPE lineup.. or at least for people who extend their hiphop to other coasts.. ;D
They could have done without Murphy Lee though..
-
That sounds like a good idea!
I was wondering where the profits from the album will go? Will Snoop make money off this, and/ or will the artists featured make money aswell?
-
Who do u think is qualified to redo the shiznet ??? gin and juice or Murder was the case??? In my opinion those are the three tightest tracks on the record even when you include Gz up hoes down....
-
Well its official this makes Snoop an Rap OG, once u have the younger cats in the game remaking your hits........that means you made an impact in the game...
Congrats Snoop......

They oughta get Ice Cube to do "Pump Pump".
Jay-Z would be good on "Gz and Hustlaz"
Redman could do the Shiznit
50 Cent is perfect for Murder was the Case
Fat Joe is a tough one, I dunno what they have slated for him.
That's what I hear

Guess im one of the only ones who doesnt like this idea. As someone said, just a money maker...and why does the 10 year anniversary cd drop 2004 when Doggystyle came out 1993 lol
It would be interesting to hear all the same

Sounds shit, but i'll listen to it with an open mind.
-
this album should be a westcoast only LP. dont wanna see eastcoast acts on this release cuz doggystyle is a westcoast classic!!
-

-

...would love some cube on there as well as meth
-
Who's going to do "What's My Name" and how will they deal with the chorus?
"What's my muthafucking name?
Fif-ty Ce-eee-e-e-e-ent (tha bomb!)"
Nah.
-
Money is thicker than blood. That's fucked up but on the real that's how it is cuz, damn!
Some of that shit might be interesting to hear, but obviously it's all about the $.
-
As they will probably remix the beats and it's on interscope, does anyone think there is a chance Dre might update one (or more) of the beats for this album?

Interesting point. Can't see it - Dre's got enough on his plate and from the amount of time it takes him to finish a project I don't think he'd be able to meet a release date of January next year. ;)
-
lol, its funny how they wont make another doggystyle, but they'd make an album to tribute doggystyle. sounds wack. i dont think it'll happen.
-
Damn sounds dope, Makes you think if they can get clearance to release all this shit and its going through interscope (which Dre and Snoop are cool with) maybe they'll give the ok to release some of the doggystyle leftovers in conjunction with DR. :)

yea they both dropped 4th quarter tho

So Snoop's officially a legend now? Hehe, that's cool. Props to him.
AS for the album, I'm not quite sure about how it would sound..
-
Damn, when I saw the topic I was hoping for a re-release with Gz Up Hoes Down, Doggystyle and prehaps Next Episode OG, but instead it was a wack ass tribute version. Did anyone hear the Straight Outta Compton one? That shit was alright, but that was nearly all west coast cats, to be honest I can't see Fat Joe, Cam'ron etc, flowing all that well to the beats from Doggystyle.
-
Thats fuckin' shit, Interscope should not do a cover version
of one of the most classic hip hop albums to date, that
would just fuckin' ruin it for me they'll prob get some wack
remixes put on it and also why are they puttin' mostly
eastcoast cats on it for. Doggystyle is a westcoast album
and if you are going to cover it at least put some cats
on it who are actually from the west you know what I'm
sayin'

Helllo????!!!!!!!! its a tribute album so I dont see nuthin wrong with Eastcoast cats doing songs on it , its like giving props to Snoop Dogg
and again FUCK THAT EASTCOAST/WESTCOAST Bullshit wake up and enjoy the music
-
Man I ain't got a problem with eastcoast all I said was
why put mostly eastcoast cats on it, have it equal you
know what I'm sayin'
-
Hmmm I got mixed reactions too.
Seein how bad most songs are that bite old west coast beats, I don't expect much. At least this will make G-Funk look better and let them remember how much we have done...but I donno what this is gonna work like .
One stupid thing I could see happenin is east coast die hards like "See Dre shoulda been workin with the east back then, them ny cats killed his beats, they sound way better than snoop" even tho that wont be common to hear i could see some dude sayin it
