Title: why do people want a Dre + Rakim CD anyway?
Post by: Lincoln on July 16, 2003, 06:09:16 PM: i never understood why anyone would ever want these 2 do lots of songs together to begin with. there styles are completly different, styles have to be similar with beats/rhymes so their is chemistry. why would you want a Dre-produced album and not a Premier, Pete Rock, or (if there is a god) another Eric B album?

and don't respond with "Dre is the best producer and Rakim is the best rapper"

thats exactly why people wanted it so badly. plus rakim does sound tite on dre beats, like addictive remix and watcher 2

Why anticipate something that probably won't be released? I was anticipating King T & Hittman's album on Aftermath & look what happened. :-\

well, I guess you expected Dre to lace Ra with some 2001-like beats... maybe Dre flipped his style ?

Post by: Hydro on July 16, 2003, 06:26:34 PM: I'm not saying that they wouldn't of sounded tight together. Like you said, Dre might of changed his production style for Rakim's album but with the current style of Dre's beats I don't think that they would fit Rakim.

Post by: We Fly High on July 16, 2003, 07:35:24 PM: yeah that guy doesnt belong on dre beats. in my opinion. a lot of the eastcoast producers sound much better over ra's flow . i think theyre more successful at creating a hip hop sound, than dr dre is. not Rap sound, but a hip hop sound.

Dr. Dre won't just sell him a beat and that's it, he does what he wants with it, he'll do what a producer is supposed to do, be like a director in a movie.

What happened last time Dre took a while for an album and people doubted him?.........................................................he released 2001.

He did sound dope on the Watcher, and on Addictive, even tho that was Quik. But not only do people consider them two of the best, but people wanted to see how the different styles would come together.

Why not?

because that doesn't really mean anything. if my fave rapper (Paris) and my fave producer (DJ Premier) hooked up it would probably be a mess. just because 2 people are the best (which is an opinion anyways, i'm not a huge Dre fan) doesn't mean that they'll necessarily be "The Best" when put together
