The Anaheim Mighty Ducks, hoping to replace the departed Paul Kariya, have reached agreement with free agent center Sergei Fedorov on a five-year contract worth in excess of $40 million, ESPN has learned.

I just don't think it's a smart move. All that money right b4 the CBA expires? Plus Fedorov on a defense-first team like the Ducks. Sure he's a good two way player but he's wasted on the Ducks. Not only that but who's he gonna play with? I don't think they re-signed Oates...
I guess they felt they had to do something to please the fans

This contract is only basically a 2 year deal with the other 3 at Fedorov' option.
Fedorov should fit in the Ducks system because he's won the award for besty defensive forward a couple of times before.
He could play with Peter S.
