Title: anyone know any good AVI to MPEG VCD converters?

i got a couple n they were trial versions so it had shit typed on it, n one didnt convert sound, n the one that was converting good was taking over an hour

Cucusoft Convertor is pretty good  :)

http://www.tmpgenc.net/ should do it although if you want Svcd then you have to buy the pro after thirty days but normal vcd works on the free copy.

Also http://www.virtualdub.org  can be usefull but I don't think it has an mpeg codec included as standard.

As Lil Fame said, dvdrhelp (new name for vcdhelp) is the best place for info.  Also http://doom9.org/ has some usefull info.
