Title: DVD regions and PC compatibility
Post by: Lord Funk on September 15, 2003, 03:10:58 AM
lol, all my posts are gonna be about me failing to understand how my computer works ;)

Here's my query if one of y'all can help. The DVD player on my PC lets me change the region a set number of times. At the moment it's on UK (think that's region 2, not too up on this though).

I want to start getting some US DVDs rather than Uk ones, particularly to pick up some hip-hop stuff. If I get a US DVD and change the setting on my computer's DVD player to "US", will it play it, or will there still be a problem because it isn't a PAL DVD?

;D I feel like a dickhead for not knowing this kind of shit, so if someone can put me out of my misery and let me know, you'd make my day.

hey,

okay see.. the region settin for a dvd can be changed five times....
so when you put a dvd of a different region for the fifth time... your dvd rom's region setting will be set to that region .. get it??
so if you put a US dvd for the fifth changeover..from then on ... your dvd rom drive's region setting would be set at US and you can only play US dvds and no other region dvds will work on your drive..
but there is another way to avert this problem.. there is a program called DVD region killer that lets you play DVDs of any region on your DVD rom drive....
so you wont have to go through this whole changeover business...
jus start dvd region killer and put the dvd in .. thats it .. no region or any shit of that sort will be set..
so i suggest you get that program ....
hope this was of some help to you ...

Yeah, either that..
Or you could "flash" the DVD-software, by replacing the DVD-burner settings with a new setup.
