Title: How does Sonic Jihad stack up against Paris's other albums?
Post by: Lincoln on September 26, 2003, 08:40:32 PM
I've only heard 6 tracks, is it as good as The Devil Made Me Do It & Sleeping With The Enemy?

PS If you don't like Paris just don't even bother responding.

Well, those albums are untouchable and the beats are completly different (as a matter of fact: I never heard a release whose music was similar to "The Devil Made Me Do It"). Lyrically, "Sonic Jihad" is better than "Guerrilla Funk" and the beats are almost as funky but with a darker twist.

The only thing I don't like about the record are the hooks which are performed by this women who already could be heard on "Unleashed" (she must be a relative of Paris or his wife ;D).

It's a strong album and I really hope we don't have to wait another 5 years for his next real one.

Thanks for the info. Is the women you're talking about the one on Lay Low & Life Goes On? I thought she sounded dope but that's just me.....

She was on "What Would You Do" and a couple of other songs. Don't think she's the main singer on "Life Goes On". Nothing against her or her voice but Paris just used her too much. ;)

I ordered mine from CeDe.ch and have to wait a few more days (European release: 10.07.2003). >:(

By the way: All tracks with Dead Prez are dope as fuck and they really got me hyped for "Get Free Or Die Trying". Paris and them got a nice chemistry although I like him together with KAM even more (KAM's verse was pretty radical though...)

my OG copy should be here in a few days, I ordered it from the site. dead prez is always dope there new album has a lot of potential. That Kam verse is nuts! Makes a lot of sense tho: "Talk about killin these niggaz you goin places, but talk about killing these crackaz you racist".

Yes, Sonic Jihad is a great album! I dont usually say this about newer releases (funkdoctors can confirm that) but this release was just off tha hook when I heard it. Much respect to Paris.

i got my OG copy yesterday at wherehouse music, and yes this album is sort of like Guerilla Funk but with a darker twist, and Paris def. stepped it up on the mic

the women on the hooks are cool, nothing annoying but still he could have done without them

i only got
The Devil Made Me Do It
Guerilla Funk

and i must say that Sonic Jihad is another solid release by him, i would say that its up there with Guerilla Funk
