What do you think? what was the best Album The Chronic or Doggystyle.
I think The Chronic was a little better then Doggystyle.
8) 8) 8)

I shouldn't even choose, but personally I like Doggystyle better. Both are classics.

4. Dogg Food
5. Warren G - R. The G-Gunk Era ( No Death Row )
6. Murder was the case Soundtrack

Add Makaveli - The 7 Day Theory
I can't choose between Doggystyle and Chronic.

I say Doggystyle..Was a banger from start to end. Chronic had a few tracks i didnt like that much
-
depends on my mood. Chronic is mostly hard shit,Doggystyle is more on a party-vibe.

I chose Doggystyle because the Chronic was half Snoop album anyways....Both albums are equally dope tho.
-
the chronic
-
Both albums are more than just dope, but given the choice of which I'd bump if I was asked to put one on right now, it would have to be Doggystyle.
But like Z-Virus says, the vibes are very different - Snoop's is more of a fun album, guess that's why I prefer it slightly.
-
if i had a choice of keeping two cds only for the rest of my life these would be it.......i dont know if i could choose ask hittman2001 my opinion always changes i guess it just mattters what i want to listen to and its true the chron is a lil harder and more gangsta vibe while doggystyle is more club hits up beat shit ....no matter what tho those are the best two albums made IMO i love both cds.....
-
The Chronic 8)
Hatesrats 2oooTre
-
Hard choice but I'd have to say Doggystyle since it was more of a party album with that hardcore feel to it...and I noticed most non-rap listeners prefer the doggystyle album over any other rap album.
-
Does anyone know the official sales figures for each album? VH1 says both albums sold about 8 million but RIAA never certified both albums.
-
The Chronic was my vote. These are my 2 fave albums tho. Very close.
-
im the only one who will say this but while i love these albums neither are as good as people make them out to be...if i had to choose i would say the chronic...

I'm voting for Doggystyle, again ;)
-
I think THE CHRONIC sold 6 mill. copies and DOGGYSTYLE 5 millions.
-
i want to say chronic
but doggystyle doesnt have even one average song on it.
all top notch.
shouldnt have to choose one but.....
peace

they're both still selling. i bought my copies just a couple of months ago. lol. tossed the downloaded versions out the window.
*thanks killa-G for making him choose. >:( >:(
peace

Too hard to choose... I love em both though 8) :)
-
I think The Chronic has sold 6 million copies, but was certified only for triple platinum, and I think Doggystyle has 8-9 million copies sold. At least VH1 wrote so.
-

Agreed. People make these albums too be the best 2 ever released & they're not.

There's tons of albums better than The Chronic & Doggystyle.
-
lyrically maybe
but production wise you kids are out of your gord to say there is a ton of albums better.
when you do all the math and put fickle opinions aside there are only 5 or 6 albums (in rap) that you can make an argument for that are better...
36 chambers
illmatic
paid in full
it takes a nation of million....
cuban linx
and a take your pick from outkast
straight up and down, right and left , to the window to wall.......ain't too many (rap) albums fucking with the chronic or doggystyle
the only way to find a "ton" of albums better.....you'd have to venture out of hip hop and go:
led zeppelin iv
dark side of the moon
are you experienced
appetite for destruction
revolver
exile on mainstreet
paranoid
back in black
abraxis
ect.
-
I like All Eyez On Me and E. 1999 Eternal better than these 2 albums, but I don't think these 2 albums are overrated. Fuck, these 2 albums had a very big influence on hip hop! That Bone album is waaaaaaaaay underrated.

Lyrics are just as important as beats.
-
yeah that's why these albums are classics......most hip hop albums have SHITTY production.....these albums along with efil4zaggin created real productin in hip hop.....they're still the refference of what good production is.

You missed the point. They both have great production, I can agree with that. But the lyrics aren't as good as the production which is why I don't think they are perfect.

Not to everybody. To me, overall I'd say Beats 65%, Lyrics Voice Style Flow 35%. Maybe it's because I'm a producer, or because I grew up listenin to Jazz and old school music that focused on music over lyrics. Like Parliament, the lyrics were amuzingly simple and stupid but who cared, the music made it dope.
Thas y i think doggystyle is the best album ever, because of production first, but because his flow and voice went perfect with every song, and even tho his lyrics weren't on this new era complex multi shit, they were better than average.

i like doggystyle more than chronic.
