when dre finally drops detox i really dont think its goin push units like you guys think. a lot of you think detox will ressurect the west again. dont get me wrong detox will go platnium but dre will be lucky to push half of what 2001 did. that sold 7-8 million dre will be lucky to push 3.5 - 4 million. he'll go about 2 million. IM not sayin this b/c the album will be wack. I think dre is goin drop some next level shit again like he always does. but just the way the rap game is selling now i just dont see detox selling like 2001 did
-
with 50 cent, eminem and others all over it? i think it'll sell ;)
-
But even before 2001 dropped, I wouldn't have predicted it would sell like it did. In the UK that album, especially with 'Still D.R.E' and 'Forgot About Dre' as singles, made him a pop star. I bet Detox will be the same: no matter how big or small the buzz appears to be in the mainstream running up to it, it'll blow the fuck up once it's out.
Oh, and as Seer says, Em and Fiddy's support ain't gonna hurt his sales none ;)

That's true, Dre CANT flop no matter how bad Detox was (I'm not saying its gon be bad, i mean if it was bad it would still sell).
Dre is on another level, he's like Eminem in a way, no matter what he puts out, there's a couple million people that gon buy the shit no matter if its dope or not. Plus, if the album's str8 heat (and i hope it'll be) it'll easily do better than 2001 since Dre is bigger each day.

Has anyone else at Def Jam records pushed more than 2 mill units recently?
Does anybody besides JAY-Z on Rocafella even go GOLD?
Do the L.O.X. or any of the solo Ruff Ryder's stuff besides EVE & DmX go GOLD?
Do the Clipse or N.E.R.D. for that matter go GOLD?
Did Lil' Jon & the Eastside boys go more than 5x platinum yet?
;D (danm!! Radio is Lil' Jon right now....lol)
*LOL...that's all they play, & I'll bet it hasn't even cracked the plat mark..?
Is Chingy past GOLD yet?
Ying Yang Twinz?
David Banner?
BoneCrusher?
Bigg Gip?
Lil' Flip...ect
Just curious with all the Radio flippin' on the South...
with all the promotion/p/video's and people talkin' about how the South run's hip-hop...
Do they really?
Sales wise.

Hatesrats 2oooTre {Prop's}
P.S. ImO Detox will sell "Quote Pac"
"Quatriple Quatraple platinum"

i think if its gonna sell anything Dre needs to start makeing hits before the album so ppl can get even more anticipated for it...
-
DRE is gonna push mad units when DETOX comes out...
If 50 can go 6x plat, Dre can certainly do the same. And by now, everyone knows that Dre is partially responsible for 50's success, and Eminems success for that matter. That wasnt the case when 2001 came out.
There will be huge hype before DETOX I bet, and its gonna push mad untis because its gonna be one of the best albums ever prolly....Better than any Eminem album, or any 50 Cent album.
-
Ever true rap fan knows who dre is, ever true rap fan has 2001, every em fan knows who dre is, ever 50 fan knows who dre is, every rap fan will get DETOX.
It will be huge.
-
even if he starts promoting it now and drops it next week it is gonna atleast got platinum.
peace

tru ;D

THe thing with 2001, when i heard te leaked versions of Still Dre and FOrgot about Dre, i KNEW the game was Dre's and that he was gonna sell like crazy. I had never heard a beat like Still Dre before, and IMO that is an incredible song to this day.
I think this album will sell 4-5, maybe more, and that is excellent. I just pray to god 50 is not on the first single!
-
im sick of cats sayin 50 should be on 1st single or eminem should be, damn niggaz need to know, theres only two things fittin fo 1st single..........snoop co starrin or a solo............but after the way still dre fucked shit up back in the day, im sure they'll work on the 1st single again, damn still dre was one of the sickest singles ever to be released........the beats so catchy.........the hook, c'mon man, we all know the hook was like whoa.......and dre spits fire........damn shit was ill..............
speakin of sales............dre cant fail, this is gon be one of the few albums i buy these days, i dont even bootleg muhfuckers, im jus bored with most shit thats out today,
but im predictin 4 mill............minimum
peace

2001 was popular as hell, this is just gona be as popular or even more.
-
I'm nowhere near as hyped for 2001. I don't think it'll sell that great either. What it comes down to is, Dre's sound is westcoast, nobody buys westcoast. Snoop goes plat, Dre will probably go 2X plat, even with Em & 50 on it. The last good example of this (in my opinion!) was the Wash soundtrack. Had everybody good on it, Snoop, Dre, etc. and didn't sell shiiiiit.

True...

The comment "dre's sound is westcoast, nobody buys westcoast" is almost dumb. WHat do you think the song In Da CLub is? I dont care if it is a 50 cent song, that is one of those Dre beats that anyone could have rapped (or sung- REmember Family Affair) over and it woulda been huge HUGE. Dre will drop a single that has a beat that cant be denied, and as a result he wont be denied.
As for rumours of SNoop not being on there, i am SURE he will be. Remember last time, Dre was just gonna do it with the Aftermath fam, but realized he needed the DPG and original crew- same thing this time.
As for THe Wash, that was done very quickly, while Dre usually takes years to make classics. All of a sudden, the release date for that sdtrk was pushed up and they werent ready. THe last weekend of working on it Dre and Knoc came up with BAd Intentions as the single, which was a dope song but never really caught on. Still, I DO NOT THINK IT IS WISE TO JUDGE detox USING THE SUCCESS OF A SOUNDTRACK WHICH DRE NEVER GOT TO FINISH!!!

Calm Down, remove Balls from your mouth.
O.K.
First off, it's my opinion, who gives a fuck?
Second, If you want Dre's album to be full of eastcoast rappers, sure, it'll sell. However, it goes the route his other 2 did, and has westcoast rappers, since the westcoast doesn't sell shit anymore, it probably won't sell. Sorry, game over.
BTW, I'm not judging detox. I'm sure it'll be a great album, but that doesn't mean shit to record sales. 2X plat is my prediction, like Tom.
