Are you offended by this word? In my opinion, the word "cracker" does not refer to White people as a whole, mainly the ones who are ignorant/racist/prejudice. I notice that people dislike artists like dead prez for saying the word & wondered why. I know several Whites who I would openly call Cracker because they always use racial slurs & judge people by race & color. However, I doubt that any White person on this forum is a "cracker" because they all have some sort of respect for Black culture (hip-hop) which is why we're here.

I agree with that. Making general comments about Whites is wrong. As Martin Luther King pointed out, Black supremacy is just as bad as White supremacy. However, you calling one Black "nigger b/c he is one" is also a terrible statement. That word means Black Object & was used to define slaves. Are you saying the guy you called that is a Black object or slave?

For those that don't know, Cracker is basically the anti-nigger. Nigger coming from negro, which is spanish for black object (like pointed out earlier in the thread). The Spanish where the main slave importers to the Americas, so they got to pick out the nice words to call the slaves. Then when slaves where in the United States, they basically where tricked into thinking their masters where great people. Some knew better, but if you read what mainy of them said, they felt that their masters where very fair, and treated them well. But the masters role was to play good cop, it was the Overseer (sorry 'seer, just U.S. history) that was the bad cop. The overseer would whip the slave, and forced them to work. Slaves hated the overseer, or as they call them Cracker. He was the Cracker, because he cracked the whip. Also, the saying "What's Crackin'?" also comes from slaves asking each other "what's crackin'?" in terms of who was the latest slave to get punished. But to be called a cracker in insulting, because overseers where usually the lowest forms of white people, even to other white people. They were usually uneducated, drunkards, who where called to keep slaves in line. They often worked besides the slaves, to make sure they would keep up their work, and they never had a steady home because they could not stay at a home too long because in order to whip slaves easier, you can't get to know them, so when a overseer got to know the slaves, they had to be fired. Overseers where looked down apon by whites, because they wheren't gentlemen, they where drunkards, and they where dirty people. Funny how mainy thinks from the slavery days is relevent today. So when a black person says cracker, they mean it in a get back way, as in that all white people are overseers and are waiting to whip the black person. Personally, I'm Latino, so I stay out that shit. But many things from slavery are still today. And inorder to forget about slavery, we have to get rid of everything that has to deal with it. Those old rich plantation owners in the south gain their riches from rich slave holding grandfathers all the segration in the south is a direct effect from when whites wanted to control blacks after they were freed, and the culture of black fathers leaving their families because slave men never learned to be fathers because they were always sold to another owner when they started a family, the common perception that blacks depend on welfare comes from whites thinking that blacks needed whites to live because white owners feed black slaves, police officers that feel they have to act like modern day overseers in black communities. All of these things, and more are direct from slavery, and slavery will never be forgotten, until the wrongs were correct. Until then, let the cracker and nigger calling continue, and I'll stand on the side and try not to get called wetback, beaner and spic.

Cracker is a word that whites invented to put down other whites, who were poor. It's a very harmful racial slur to put down a white person, and is comparable to the word Nigger. Anybody who calls someone a cracker is a racist, just like anybody who calls somebody a nigger. There aren't any gradients of that, it's the exact same thing. There's no such thing as 'reverse racism', racism is racism. It's assuming things about a person based on what race they are, and in this case, assuming bad things about a person based on what race they are (and using a slur to denegrate them based on their race).

What is a shame, is that all of the Great work Martin Luther King Jr. spent his lifetime doing, was unravelled in a few short years, by organizations like the NAACP and the NOI, who twisted his words to make most whites feel he was as racist as these 2 organizations are. The guy sleeping next to a dumpster on Christmas, should be just as possitive as the guy with a million dollars in his bank account. Sure its easy to say, but youre not in that boat. 90% of the time though if you're sleeping next to a dumpster on christmas is because of the choices you made...i would say yes that blacks have gone through more than jews...but they sure as hell havent gone through more than people from the middle east or mexico or hell even canada (we make fun of canadians for a lot)...im not talking about slavery im talking as far as prejudice and racism go...they've gone through just as much as we have...the only way the world will truly be equal is when people stop giving a fuck about words that mean nothing anymore and starting co-existing as humans...not as black people, white people, mexicans, etc...we are all people and thats how it should be.

sounds peachy...but the worlds not perfect, and u cant tell people wha to be offended by..and not be offended by. And youre still trying to make comparisons, that really sound crazy lol. I dont think anyone in THIS country, has had it worse them Black people...EXCEPT Native Americans. And the reason u dont hear much from them, is cus there hardly IS any more lol. I mean, it isnt like u can make slaves out of people for generations...then oppress them for years, and years, and years...and then think they should just all off a sudden have the same possitive outlook on the country, as the people who have been ontop the WHOLE time. you're misunderstanding my point...im not talking about black people in history...im talking about black people in the last 30 years or so...nobody on this board was a slave, nobody living was a slave in fact...and yet we still get blamed for that...i never made anyone a slave and yet i have to take this double standard bullshit because of some shit that happened 200 years ago...thats messed up. as far as the way different races have been treated over the last 30 years or so no, there is no difference among the races...we've all been treated the same. there is racism in all, there is a few people in each that make the whole race look bad...nobody has been a slave, i'd say nobody has been beatin for the color of their skin but thats not true...people have been...but not just one race...every race has had its share of violence against it. the kkk has become more or less obsolete so its not like black people have to worry about that. there really isnt shit for them to worry about anymore thats any different from us but yet you get some of them who think that the white man is the devil (like dead prez for example) because of some shit that happened 200 years ago...thats fucked up and i know you agree with me on that...you'd be crazy to disagree with that.
