I like crooked I, he is a cool rapper. he was 20x better tho back in the day when he rode with Big C-Style. Many people on this forum keep saying how he is so lyrical and can destroy anyone, gonna bring the west back, gonna put death row on top, etc.
The old Crook, I could agree with these things. The new crook is just another above avg west coast rapper tho. Nothing he has done in the past couple of years has been amazing. His raps on disfunctional family were nothing special at all, except for the original version of still tha row. How many of you guys actually even heard of much less listened to crook before he was on the row? I have been listening to him for years, ever since I heard him on the Caught up OST on the song Girl w/ Luniz. I luv his shit from 19th st. His flow was amazing.
I know there are peeps on here who praise the hell outta crook, but probably haven't even listened to half of the best shit he has ever dropped. Not only that, he has never even dropped a solo album, so you really can't say too much about him. He is good, but he isn't the best, and I doubt he could bring the west back.

First thing to bring the West back? Stop to all those stupid disses! If WC artists are united, they can do great things! I dont think they need a "savior". No no. They just need to collaborate more with each others. Crooked I is a tight rapper, but he cant save nothing if he's alone. Feel me? People who says: "he'll resurrect the west!" are wrong, IMO. Dre producing a Snoop album with the whole DPGC crew in it can. WSCG working with 213 can. Crooked I in a DPG album can. Dre and Daz producing some singles from the next Pac album can. More Xzibit and Crooked I tracks can. Etc..

And you are damn right about Crooked I: the "19th street" one was awesome. Do you remember Jacking For Flows? Damn that shit was tight! Copying B.G.'s flow from DPG Killa. Black Pussy with Eiht and Dres'ta, Do Your Thang and Uh-Oh, Gangsta-Gangsta, that track with Luniz (Girl), Rap Killer... that's his best shit, IMO. But hey, he's hella tight! I got mad respect for him, and i'm really anticipating his debupt album. Cant wait.

I'm anticipating his dpg album, but not his Death row one. I'm sure that one is gonna be ruined by crappy production and stupid suge knight ideas.

Probably, yeah. I'm sure Suge has something to do with Crooked I rapping on 2 Of Amerikaz Most Wanted. But who knows? We will see! (hopefully).

Been listening to him since Feels So Good with snoop, tech and style back in 98. Used to be my most anticipated, now he's just another decent rapper with nothing much to say.
Your right, he hasnt put out anything of much quality the past few years.

That's what I'm thinking. It's true, a lot of people talk about him like he's on top. Well, lyrically...he IS good, that's a fact. But he's just with the wrong label, that's all.
If he would've signed with some other label, he would've had the chance to prove himself by dropping a solo-album. The hype is slowly dying if you'd ask me.

yea i been hypin' crook up for years but i agree, i started listenin' 2 him when 'Escape From Death Row' dropped and his flow was amazing, his flow back on C Style's compilations was crazy too... if he would of got to drop his album back in 98 and Noo Trybe wouldn't have folded it would of been a west coast classic i know it... peep "Rid Wit A G" that's straight out of 19 St. u can tell... track got that classic west coast sound too it... Crooked I still got talent no doubt and his flow is still tight but back in 98 he was even tighter... I agree cats are on his dick too much thou...

It is actually pretty sad when u listen to the difference between Crook's newer tracks and the older material. I was starting to wonder if I had overrated him when I was listening to the newer stuff, then I put in Escape From Death Row and listened to Uh-Oh, and it was amazing, and it all now seems like such a waste of talent. He needs to put in an amazing guest verse on someone elses single to show that the skill is still there before they release an album, cause there really is no hype at all at the moment. Plus, I think his own motivation has suffered from the delay in the release of his album, which is why he hasn't performed as well recently. If his album isn't released by summer 2004, then I think he should leave Death Row, problem is I think that will probably be easier said than done.

Been bumping Icon since at least 97. When he was down with C-Style he had production and was mainly about flow. Once he got down with The Wake Up Show he was more about metaphors and wordplay. That's when I really started liking him. Now, he's still about metaphors and what not, but lacks production. That's why everyone is knocking him.

Crooked I is the closest thing to that we have/will ever get.
The D.O.C. was :o in 89' as a debut album..
for an artist who had alredy been around for a minute..
ImO...Crook could have/make that same impact.

Crooked has popped up on two new Wake Up Show drops. One with Mos Def, Kurupt and others. And, the other with Sly Boogy, F.A.B. and them. He ripped both of those up. I don't think he's fell off, at all. He's just lacking production, and people are tuning out.
