Title: anyone else find it wierd that...
Post by: Don Breezio on November 02, 2003, 07:03:59 PM
90% of this board hates on ja rule 24/7 but as soon as he has a new album dropping everyone wants to hear it?...sounds like people dont hate him as much as they say (except AC Grundy...i think he wants ja dead)

The reason why 99% of this board hates him, is because he sold out and started singing.
Since this is supposed to be his return to hiphop, it's worth a listen or two.

lmao...because he uses a more harmonizing tone in his songs he sold out? did bone thugs sell out too?...i think he sold out by using the R&B bitches all the time but he's got some other great music...people act like hes the only  mf in rap to sing in his songs...50's done it, bone thugs have done it for years, eminem has done it, mos def does it....seriously theres a huge double standard when it comes to ja rule.

why is that so funny? its the same exact thing...they both rap, they both sing, only difference is half of bone's shit is about drugs and half of jas shit is about love...

You're mistaken.  They're different people... there's people that are vocal about him being a bitch, and then there's people that get excited about his album.  Not the same people.

but theres a few people who have all of the sudden wanted to hear this album so bad even though they make comments about him being "a bitch"...i personally enjoy his music...its not quality music by any means but i enjoy it. the only diff. between ja rule and bone thugs is subject matter..even bone gets w/ felicia or mariah carey now and then...

I don't hate hit for changing. I hated him from the first tim i heard him on Can i Get A. I thought Holla, Holla was one of the dumbest songs i've ever heard right up there with most of the cash money and No limit songs. When he started doing all the RnB be collabos just hated him more. I was glad when 50 and others started dissing him. I loved it when Dre dissed his corny ass, it takes a much stronger man to leave the house in lipstick and lace from the wreckin cru days then it does to pretend to be a thug and diss people who are twice as talented and make a complete fool out of yourself. Ja Rule is a joke and a no talent hack.

I don't like Ja Rule either, but the reason that I listen to all of his albums, is 'cause I own "Venni, Vetti, Vecci" and know that he can make tight music if he wants to. And on all of his other releases there were still a few songs that were a bump worth. And after he said he will come back with "Blood In My Eye" I was curious to see if this was only kinda promotion or if he's right. And I think "Blood In My Eye" is way better than his former releases (except "VVV") and I have no sorrow to say that he improved a lot in comparison to "Pain Is Love", etc.

It's just keeping an open mind. I haven't liked any of Ja's albums but the first song I heard I liked so I'll give it a chance. Hell, I even gave 50's album a chance when it first came out.

i couldn't care less about a ja rule, i think proof summed it up best when he said "i could write a ja rule album in 2 hours" if he actually comes good you know he isn't writing that shit. i admit i ust to bump him when he first came out with holla holla but since then i8 havn't been feeling him at all really

I'm sorry but I don't know how u could even begin to compare Ja Rules singing to what Mos Def does. Ja Rule "sings" because he thinks that if he has a softer image then more people will buy his album. Mos Def uses singing as a an extra artistic expansion, when he feels the emotion involved would be better charged through singing than rapping. The fact that Mos doesn't exactly have the best singing voice in the world ever isn't a problem because at least you can feel emotion in his singing, whereas Ja Rule whailing doesn't convey anything.

Oh, and even when Ja Rule did make "hiphop" on his first album, he was still wack, so no i'm definitely not looking forward to his new album.

I don't care about Ja Rule either way.  I don't hate on him, I just don't care.

I never thought he was good.  Venni, Vetti, Vecci, I'm sure is not a good album.  His voice is and always was horrible and he's not a good MC.  Like every other one of his albums I'm not looking forward to cause I just don't care about it.

umi says was the shit...mos is way better yes but its the same principal...and i disagree...i think ja puts a shitload of emotion into his song...just not the ones that end up on the radio...im not trying to compare skill with anyone...im saying everyperson i named does the exact same thing and noone says that they're a bitch for doing it...people have a double standard when it comes to ja rule...the sad shit is nobody sees it but me.

Speaking for myself here, I am not hating on Ja because of the fact that he sings, because like you say (even though i don't believe its a true comparison) Mos Def and others do sing as well. I hate on Ja because he blatantly cannot sing at all. His singing isn't even average, it is plain terrible, and even he himself must realise this.

I'm not a big Bone Thugs fan (I only own E1999) but what they did was rap in a very soft and rhythmic way, which wasn't quite singing or quite rapping. It's not like they started off rapping hardcore and then decided that to sell more records they would harmonize more, that was just the way they were, that was their style.

I'm sure there are some people in here who hate on Ja for the sake of it, but I have to say that I can't see anything that he has done in his career which would make me want to buy or even download anything that he has done. The only Ja song in my entire cd and mp3 collection is Connected feat Crooked I and Eastwood, and that certainly wasn't downloaded for Ja's verse. To me Ja Rule epitimisis what is wrong with hiphop these days.

I won't download his new shit cuz I don't have any reason to

he doesn't have skill, he can't sing, his voice is horrible and listening to him spitting gangsta lyrics would be like listening to a parody or something

since there's not a single aspect about him I like there's no point in giving him a chance.. the only reason might be curiosity since he claimed to come all hard n shit but I don't think that'll make me download it

thats just an opinion though...while you may not like his voice others do...i enjoy his voice...true he doesnt have much skill but he makes up for it in emotion...and bone thugs does sing, and they do hardcore, and they do the more melodic rapping...im not a big bone fan either except for the songs where they mainly sing (actually its layzie that sings the most)...
