Title: Guest appearances you could do without
Post by: Lord Funk on November 25, 2003, 02:11:06 AM
Idea just occured to me when I was listening to 'Can U Feel That' off Quik's Balance & Options.

This shit could happily lose Mausberg (RIP) and whoever the fuck the third guy is... and just have three verses of classic Quik.

Any others?

The song's called "Did y'all feel dat?" and 'the third guy' is Skaboobie. Personally I think it's ok with those verses in that particular song, but I feel you.

Probably the artist I would like to hear on the solo more often most is Nate Dogg. He coulda done better without HALF or more of the guest appearances in his last album.

I agree. Quik's verse on that song is one of his best. Maus(even though he's tight) & Skaboobie didn't do too well on it. Another song like this is "20 Minutes" off of NLTD. Goldie didn't bring ANY heat on this track, but Snoop ripped it.

Yeah, shit - I was sitting here all confused between that and that track on 'Berg's album called 'I Can Feel That' or something - thought I'd attempt something in between the two ;)

Crawf - feel ya on that '20 Minutes'. I remember copping NLTD and wondering why Snoop was bringing Goldie into the game - he struck me as totally average. Took until Tha Eastsidaz' first CD for me to realise he was dope.

Although it was actually on his own album, Snoop sounded like an unwanted guest on Down For My Niggas from NLTD. Magic and C-Murder bout ripped that beat, and then Snoop came in spitting all pimpish on a hype track, didn't work at all.

DJ Quik's verse on "Put It In The Air" by Talib Kweli. I like Quik, but his verse, amusing though it was, had absouloutly nothing to do with what Kweli was spitting about. Add that to the fact Kweli has hardly ever called women bitches or done any of the disrespectful shit, and then Quik comes in with "i'm in the back room making her run, ain't even touched her and making her cum". It was actually pretty hilarious, but didn't fit in at all.

Yeah, Quik usually spits a lot better than that. It wasn't wack though. Just out of place.

defo '20 minutes',not '20 minutes part 2" though! Let me think of others:
- Jay-Z off "Lollipop"
-Kokane's talking off "When you see me" (he isn't bad on it,but the whole track is allready a bit bizarre and Kokane's talking is rather unneccesary)
- Johnny Chronic off "Whatever",unlike some of you, I actually like that track,it's so laidback, but Johnny is out of place and wack on it.

I'm sure I can think of others when I think more.

Kokane on  "Freak Of The Week" it could have been a great Soopafly song...Kokane's verse was wack

kokane on How we kick it on Christmas it could have been better with a smooth by Nate Dogg, Butch Or LaToiya even a choir could have been better than kokane

Kokane On Summetime man this Snoop song is so tight buy he fucked it again with his weird chorus

Master P on LayLow

Snoop should've been left off of "Down For My Niggas".

Snoop should've been left off of "Gangsta Gumbo".

It should have been just Pac, Fatal, and Syke on "When We Ride".

Kurupt and Killah Priest should've been left off of a grip of Horsemen tracs.

Suga Free off "Sorry I'm Away So Much" - His verse was real short and pretty much worthless, didn't add anything to the song.

^^^ his verse didn't have anything to do w/ the song, but I think it is hella tight anyway.

That Dru Hill song "Sleeping in my bed messing with my head". The Brat and JD were rapping about stuff that had nothing to do with the song.

That song off the 2nd Eastsidaz album with Doggy's Angels. Doggy's Angels ruined a perfectly good song.

Remember Hurricane G? She ruined that song off of Xzibit's first album and she ruined some Redman and Keith Murray songs as well.

-All the verses on "Thug Passion" by 2Pac besides his, tite ass song otherwise but a lot of the verses were really boring.

-Kid Frosh on "Lets Make A V" mainly because they changed up the beat during his part and kind of ruined the song

-Big Pimpin on pretty much everything

Suga Free's verse did kinda throw the song off, but it was still funny as hell, especially his dumb ass talkin at the end.

Yeah Snoop did take away some of "Down for my niggz"

"Put ya hands up" on Doggy's Angels' CD, woulda been better without them.

"Let's all roll" it's Knoc's song but his verse was last and was very average compared to how everybody else ripped the song

"What this dick'll do" on Welcome 2 da chuuch vol. 2, Half dead's verse was gaaarbage even tho it was funny

"Change the game remix" Jay-Z and DPG ripped it, but Bleek and Beanie at the end was weak. Jus like Jayo said, "it ain't one set on sunset" Bleek sounded more like he was braggin about how gangsta he'd be if he came to L.A. than anything else.
