Snoop Doggy Dogg - Doggystyle
Released Tuesday, November 23rd 1993
10 years ago Snoop Doggy Dogg released his debut album "Doggystyle" on Death Row/Interscope with the help of his mentor Dr. Dre. "Doggystyle" became the first debut album ever to enter the charts at number 1.
Drop your thoughts about this classic West Coast release which is one of the best rap albums in History.
For me its the best rap album been ever released.
It was the first rap album I was ever listening to and I still bump it in my stereo and I always remember the good old Death Row days.

One of the greatest albums ever IMO. Craccin' from top to bottom. I really miss that Snoop.

Hear hear :)
It never gets old.
And it's actually so good that, in my eyes, Snoop can still ride off this album. However many shit songs he makes today, he still gave the world this record - it's more than most rappers have acheived.
-
i'll bump it later :)
classic, kinda overplayed it tho...

-
A great album.Doesn't get old. Death Row to the fullest, more or less same cast as 'the chronic' but more on a party vibe. yet it's on the same level or even better.
-
Wasn't there supposed to be a remake of this CD by other artists?
-
yeah there was
-
bumping it!

The loss of that track from later versions is one of the crimes of West Coast hip-hop. IMO it's one of the best tunes on the album... a damn shame :'(

One of my absolute favourites, no doubt. It's kinda an ABC book how it should be done - the production is excellent, the rapping is excellent and it has a well built coherent structure. (That last one is the thing that many otherwise dope albums lack nowadays...) I still bump this shit all the time. This is one of the few albums that I believe are as near to perfection as can be. Still sounds fresh as ever too. Can't believe it's been already 10 years though... Man! I feel old! ;D I still remember seeing the Gin & Juice and What's My Name? -videos on Yo! MTV Raps when I was a kid...
I'ma bump that muthafucka right now. From front to back.
-
think how i feel.. i was 16/17 when doggystyle came out!
was fresh outta school, had just started college, smokin weed n all that 8)
-
Its A Classic But Not One Of My Favs Its After All My 2Pac Albums Exept Nu Mixxes & UTEOT & Better Days
-
How many units did it push?
-
this is a straight classic, btw what happened to that 10 year anniversary version of Doggystyle with other artists doing the tracks? is it still happening?
-
Greatest Album ever made IMO nuff said Dr. Dre on the boards with Snoop on the Mic is always going to be classic especially a whole album full with guest like nate dogg and shit its always going to be classic......but nothing will ever top this album IMO besides the Chronic i love both
-
How many units did it push?
VH1 says that this album pushed 8-9 million units and that sounds about right to me. This album is the greatest album of all time IMO and can't really be touched. Everyone on this album was on the top of their game.

I remember that. I haven't head anything about it in a minute though. Hopefully it doesn't happen.

Ya I thought 50, Luda, Redman and Fat Joe among others were gettin down on that album?
-
Straight classic, and thats why Snoop "STILL" has a huge fan base, they want him to be that "OLD SNOOP"
It isnt going to happen, TO MUCH WEED!!!!!!!
He has fallen off hard, but that album will always be the blueprint for G-FUNK and another stepping stone that brought WESTCOAST to the masses
And thats why to this day Ill follow Deathrow cos in my heart I still got love for them dropping gems and classics and they still drop great music!!!
Hate on me for still showing Tha Row love but Im speaking on the real!!!
