L.A. is supposedly just 12% black according to the census, and it says it's not even 30% hispanic, and thas who commit most of the gang crimes that total so high...but the rest of L.A. city isn't like that, so overall the city's murder rate may not be as high as it seems. Now for certain neighborhoods its a different story.

Post by: Suffice on December 03, 2003, 01:55:16 AM: haha, my city, Glendale, used to be the third safest city in the US back in da day (about 30 years ago). Now it's not even in the top 100. HAHA. I guess it's all of us armoes that populate Glendale so densely

Detroit Population = 925,051 398 murders(2001)

LA has 4 times the population of Detroit.
So 398 x 4 = 1592 murders if Detroit had the same population as LA.

Yeah, they aren't just doin it by numbers and murder rate. They do it by percentage of population among other things.

Can people from Detroit, or people who kno, tell me where most of the murders come from? Is it armed robbery, gangs, drugs, or what? I am just curious.
