Okay, I was just tallying up the votes in the Album of the Year thread and these were the six albums with the most mentions. So I figured let's put it to the polls and see who comes out on top.
My vote: Yukmouth
Note: Hi-C's album got enough mentions to be up here but since it was only released on bootleg I left it off. Officially released albums only.
-
roscoe
put The D.O.C in there.
-
boo yaa tribe
-
roscoe
put The D.O.C in there.
That's a South release if you ask me.
Honorable Mentions: Duck Season Vol. 2, Judgement Day, Love & Hate, Spirit In Stone.
My vote: Yukmouth - Godzilla
-
Sonic Jihad.
-
...I can't decide between Yuk and WSC....probably WSC.....
-
Paris- Sonic Jihad
-
I can't decide. It's either Welcome to the Chuuuch volume 3, or maybe it's The Black Album. Jay Z looks like he's from California.
-
Sonic Jihad.
although i really love defari's odds & evens i voted for sonic jihad.
-
young roscoe, the philly fanatic
-
consider this an invitation to my gangsta nation
.......
-
WSC ;)
-
I voted for WSC....but Defari & Paris are close
Honorable Mentions: Judgement Day
-
I didn't think WSC's album touched anything in my top ten this year. Really dissapointed by that album. Weak production, weak lyrics.
-
So far, I'd vote for Yukmouth (I haven't heard WSC's album yet).
-
Considering no album held my attention for more than a week or two, I'm not voting for any. This was a shitty year for rap and I'm afraid its only gonna get worse.
My fav album of this year is CMW - We come strapped. yes I know it came out in 94, but I never listened to it untill this year. And I bumped it way more than any album that dropped this year.
-
WSCG.
Sadly though, not many good nominees. Maybe next year...
-
im goin with boo-yaa cause im not really feelin the WSC album...
-
It was difficult for me to decide between "Terrorist Threats", "Godzilla" and "West Kosta Nostra". I think all of them were very tight (I don't like Roscoe and Paris very much, that's why I don't like their albums like the one of the WSCG, etc.), but I finally voted for the WSCG's album outta this list. But actually my favourite Westcoast release this year was Son Doobie's "Funk Superhero".
-
No classic albums in 2003. The only one i've really enjoyed is the D.O.C. one, even if it's more South than West Coast. Anyway other than that one, no albums really shocked me. WSCG and Yuk did a pretty good album tho.
-
from this list terrorist threats but it has gotta be full circle
-
Godzilla is tight!
Fav. album this year
-
Hi-C ;D ::) ;D ::) ;D ::)
-
Paris- Sonic Jihad
-
"Terrorist Threats" is my favorite album for this year. I hope it goes plat.
-
Roscoe
the others are nice too, but i dont know why everybody's into terrorist threats that much, it's not bad but i'll put roscoe over it anytime. however there was no REAL classic this year, but a lot of solid albums of which Phillaphornia was my favorite

i dont feel roscoe
-
^^
Yeah I know what you mean. Ive tried to enjoy his album, but i guess that he just isnt my type..... Peace
-
^^^^ well, it's all a matter of taste, but i do. He's got a pretty good flow, similar to kurupt's but better than what kurupt's like today, not as hardcore like him but he can cum just as dope
I'm scopin so many sheep in wolves clothin, it's pitiful
Analyze the situation, hypocritical
cynical criminals, indispicable individuals
Supplyin the heat rock bumpin through yo digital
Whenever you dippin through the ghetto
Whippin the 6-2 Chevy, blowin heavy, goin 70
With one hand on the steering wheel tryin to hold it steady
Hittin the switch
Cus only Dogg Pound Gangstas could spit it like this
dunno, but i think those lines for example are pretty tight
-
but i'd give the album like a 8/10, as i said, no real (west coast) classics this year
-
gotta say wsc, but what about Ecay Uno, Xzibit, Daz, WC, E-40, 40 Glocc, Brotha Lynch Hung, C-Bo, Sean T, T-Nutty, Sly Boogie & Keak Da Sneak? Thought they were all at least contenders.
-
Godzilla
Lynch By Inch
Judgement Day
Love & Hate
Duck Season Vol. 2
Spirit In Stone
Good Brothers
These were the best albums this year, to me. Wet Kostra Nostra, Breakin' Newz, Philaphornia, they all just fell short of these albums.
-
I voted for WSC
That veres u posted looks too much like a Kurupt Verse
/me waits for everyone to start tellin me it his brother
-
wildchild - secondary protocol
or
hieroglyphics - full circle
...
add. Aceyalone - Love & Hate
and
Zion I - Deepwaterslang 2.0
to that list
-
goin' with Defari..
-

Daz - DPGC: U Know What I'm Throwin Up (thi scame out in 2003 right?)
Roscoe, Boo-Ya, Defari, and Yuk were all banging too
-
roscoe
put The D.O.C in there.
That's a South release if you ask me.
Honorable Mentions: Duck Season Vol. 2, Judgement Day, Love & Hate, Spirit In Stone.
My vote: Yukmouth - Godzilla
yea...a south release with west production. aight.
So then, my choices:
1.Roscoe
2.Westside Connection
3.Hi-C
D.O.C and Yukmouth would've been next.
-
for me its a tie between defari & paris...too bad hi-c didnt come out or i would have picked that one
-
roscoe
put The D.O.C in there.

Not really...If DOC's album is a south release, then Kurupt, 2Pac, Rage, and all of them would be considered East Coast artists. But they're not...PeACe
