Title: Somethin I just noticed about the California Love video
Post by: R-Tistic on December 27, 2003, 02:11:27 PM
Even tho it isn't a big deal at all, I just noticed somethin that was funny to me. The song is "California Love" and probably the biggest California anthem of all time, other than beach boys shit. But the video doesn't show anything about California. I love tha video, it's classic and funny as hell, and was ahead of it's time. But I just noticed that and I'm like hmmm...am I the only one who thinks it would be tite if somebody made a video goin all thru California to this song? Doesn't matter if it's low budget, somebody famous or whatever, but I jus think it'd be tite to do a video almost like those sports videos, that shows clips from the original video, but then shows a grip of clips from people in California drivin, partyin, bangin, ballin, etc etc etc u kno.

which cali love video are you talking about? i frogot which video went along with either the OG cali love or the remix cali love.

theres the one with the futuristic cowboy type shit, the only references it made to california, was when they inititally entered that crazy ass dome, where it says "welcome to oakland" on a huge ass sign , prob just signifying all the crazy shit that pops off in oakland.

and then there was the one where hella west coast heads were in the video , and its just one huge ass west coast style party(looks like near a beach or some shit, cos i think they had tiki torches and what not),  it shows like e-40 (Shows him a lot actually, in the video, they made it clear that pac was bay connected) &  dj quik among others. i enjoyed this video more than the futuristic cowbowy type one. it seems much more west coast oriented.

yeah but it wouldve been hella sicker, if they cruised around cali, showing landmarks and important shit, and people just partyin and what not. like when theyre shoutin out all the places in the end, it wouldve been sick to see clips of each city, like oakland , sactown, frisco, LA, watts, and all that shit

but they kinda did that concept on To Live and Die in LA, cali love part 2. but i guess it was striclty LA clips, but its coo.

California Love has a sign in the beggining that says "Welcome to Oakland" so there is your something about Cali that you couldn't find.  hahaha

Yeah I am talkin about the one that is futuristic and shit, the other is the remix. Remember he woke up like "i had this crazy ass dream" or somethin.

Yeah, the first is supposed to be a futuristic oakland or somethin, even tho it looks older than futuristic in some ways.

But "Live and die in L.A." does kinda make up for it, even tho the song wasn't nearly as big.

the California Love OG Video was supposed to be a take off of the "Escape from New York"/"Escape from L.A." movies with Kurt Russell.

Yeah, To Live & Die In L.A. kinda made up for it as they showed Pac riding around in Los Angeles, at the mall, etc...
Still, the California Love video (the OG, Mad Max-inspired) is a classic and like you said, ahead of its time.
LAZY: You should definitely peep the remix-video, it's a tight one. You can find it on Launch.com

It wasn't nearly as big as California Love. "2 Live" doesn't even get played anymore outside of L.A., but u still hear Cali love allll over, and at clubs.

in the outro part when they're driving they drive past a hollywood sign covered in dust...

pac says.. "mad max thunderdome type madness" at the start of pt2...

ya'll arguing over stuff thats there in black&white?!

more pt2 stuff....

pac+dre wandering about outside the compton fashion centre (similar shot to the ones later used in 2live+die in LA)

then u got a party again.. ermm.. "california knows how to party..." ? ?!

I remember that it is set in a futuristic california, which I noted. But even tho it's supposed to be CA, we all kno it isn't, and it was a tite concept but I was jus sayin how it wasn't in modern day california basically.

Missing child in To Live and Die LA video?

Posted by Jon Peters on Wednesday, May 7 2003

The funeral of little Jameika Porch closed another chapter in a case baffling Chattanooga police and drawing national attention to the child's mysterious disappearance nearly six years ago at age 4.

Hundreds of mourners at Wesley Chapel Christian Community Church spilled out onto the sidewalk Wednesday as family and friends of Jameika finally laid her to rest.

The girl's family had kept hope alive for Jameika's possible return until last week when bones found in a Chattanooga industrial park last October were identified as hers.

Jameika's case, which was featured on the TV show "America's Most Wanted" and in 57 million direct mailings, began when the little girl vanished from the home of her grandmother, Ann Tatum, in the middle of the night. Jameika had been asleep next to her 8-year-old cousin the last time she was seen.

"We're praying it (her death) can be solved," Jameika's aunt, Janice Underwood, said after the funeral. "It would be better, but it also wouldn't because she's still gone from us. We miss her so much."

Numerous tips from people who saw the "America's Most Wanted" episode or who received one of the mailings were unsuccessful in aiding police in the search for Jameika.

The case has been fraught with strange twists, including one involving a music video by slain rapper Tupac Shakur in 1997.

The video, "To Live and Die in LA," told of gang life in Los Angeles and featured a little girl bearing a remarkable resemblance to Jameika being lifted onto a table by Shakur.

But an unidentified man at Death Row Studio, Shakur's label, said casting was not done for that clip and the studio had no names of the people in the video.

Some members of Jameika's family believe the unanswered questions surrounding the little girl's death leave many with unhealed wounds.

"It's still an open case, and that's another episode, something else we will have to go through," Underwood said.

But despite the lack of successful leads, Jameika's father, Greg Dixon, said there is comfort in knowing his daughter is with God.

"She's been with God all these years," Dixon said. "She's been with him ever since they laid her out there in the woods."
