G ONE
He lives in the shadow of someone who struggles to get recognition. I've never heard anyone mention him. I've never heard any solo production by him either.

If you want to hear a solo production, check "Home Alone" by R Kelly and Keith Murray. That's the only song he's done on his own I think.

i cant believe people mentioning dj quik & warren g as underrated. half the time when people on here are talking about them its about their production.
9th wonder in the 7 months i've been on this board has been mentioned about 3 times and its all been by me, c2knuckles, & waitin' for the dj. most underrated producer on earth.
also mike mosley is very underrated. dude's dope.

Yeah thats a dope track fa sure. Would like to hear more of G-One on his own.
And I'm also definitely feeling Luke, y'all been sleeping on 9th Wonder big time, people need to recognise just how dope he really is.

Hell Yeaaaaah!

G-One is nice, but his shit gets kind of boring fast. Plus he hasn't produced that many songs on his own. "Home Alone" is the shit though. ;D

Ok, you are right. Let's say they are underrated by rappers. Some rappers. Who prefeer other bullshit producers rather than a classic hot beat by the 2 BEST WC g-funk producers alive. That's why, no matter how many topics you'll see about them 2 being HOT, they'll always remain "underrated". You know what i mean? When i'll see the most popular rappers (expecially West Coast rappers) having at least 3-4 tracks a cd produced by those 2 producers, they'll stop being underrated.
But hey, probably i totally misunderstood the sense of your topic.
So let me change it to Ice Cube. Yeah, Ice Cube. He's a pretty dope producer, IMO. And everybody talks only about his rap skills. Is it ok now?
-
Didn't G-One produce "Get Involved" by Raphael Saddiq and Q-Tip? That's a tight track.

even dre doesnt put 3-4 tracks on all the most popular rappers cds. if that happened the effects would be:
minimal amounts of producers on albums
no exposure to new/unknown producers like 9th wonder and stoupe
and quik & warren g's style doesnt fit everyone. quik's style fits better than warren g's imo because quik is a bit more diverse. warren g tends to stay right around the westcoast/g funk beats. i dont really wanna hear meth over a warren g beat ya know? when you have half the posts on a board with 5000 people talking about warren g & dj quiks production you cant say they are underrated when people have never even heard or heard of 9th wonder, stoupe, g-one, etc...

No, man, you are right. I was talking about 2-3 rappers in particular. The first one on the list is Bigg Snoop Dogg. Anyway Warren did a track on the Eastsidaz cd, Big Bang Theory! So he can produce hard tracks too! (if they give him a chance). Tray Deee was perfect on that beat!! Snoop always is (on Warren G beats). Man Warren G is such a genius producing shit, but he's still doing just 4-5 collaborations a year! That sucks!! And it's the same with Quik. He has his crew, and he works 99% with them, but damn!! If i was Bigg Snoop Dogg and i could choose one by one all the producers of my next cd.......
Then obviously if you talk about REAL underrated producers who has skills and nobody seems to know them.... then Warren G and DJ Quik has NOTHING to do with this topic.
-
^^^ yeah i agree...i'd rather hear snoop over a warren g beat than snoop over a neptunes beat any day. but i definetely wouldnt use the word underrated...more like underused

Yeah.

^^ How could I forget, he's definitely one of the most underrated producers. He did a great job on "Sin-A-Matic", I like his beats more than most of the JJ Brown productions. What else did he produce? I have some Demigodz shit, but I don't know the production-credits.

some ish on the demigodz EP
but his most amazing beat is:
Apani B Fly Emcee - A Million Eyes
if u want it, get at me on AIM or MSN or w/e, its such an amazing song

^^ I got the Apathy bootleg, but it's not on it. You don't listed your MSN-addy in your profile, so here's mine: mr_meth_man@hotmail.com

Now that I opened the thread about him in the Outbound, I recognized that he is definitely one of the most underrated producers ever: Classified!

Who's the dude who did a lot of work with Scarface and Big Mike? It was No Joe, right? Also No ID, who produced most of Common's best material is very underrated. "One Day It Will All Make Sense" had some incredible production but after that he hooked up with the Soulquarians, Erykah Badu and began cross dressing, which was the beginning of the end. Also, what became of DJ Aladdin? That shit he did with Ice-T and Low Profile back in the day was tight as fuck but he vanished. I think he was a finalist in the DMC's or something too.
I agree with whoever said Easy Mo Bee was underrated. He's produced a number tight jams and also produced tracks on Busta Rhymes' first LP. All those cats who produced for Ice Cube, Kam, YoYo, The Maad Circle, Lench Mob, and Del the Funkee Homosapien back in the day were tight like DJ Pooh, DJ Bobcat, Rashad, Laylaw, DJ Crazy Toones, DJ Chilly Chill and Sir Jinx the Fiddler. Also, I think Ant Banks and Shock G big time get overlooked as they have pioneered much of the west coast sound, especially when it comes to using funky grooves on tracks, which they started.
