If you could only pick 5 albums to give a 5 mic rating to, what would they be? and i don't mean those albums that you can listen to the whole way through, i mean those albums that you WANT to listen to the whole way through. These are mine:
Makaveli - 7 Day Theory
2pac - All Eyez on Me
Snoop - Doggystyle
Outkast - Aquemini
Outkast - Stankonia
and only ONE of them got five mic status in the source. Hmmm, maybe these classics are garbage compared to 4.5 mic bangers like "beanie siegel" and "made men." somebody at the source got a bullshit hidden agenda.....
-
Here's mine. Totally my own, humble opinion. From scanning my CD racks once through these are the albums that to me are a total pleasure to listen to from start to finish. Hate me now... ;)
*modified - didn't see that it was only top 5... walks out of thread singing Doggystyle All Stars' 'I Just Get Carried Away'*
Outkast, ATLiens
A Tribe Called Quest, Midnight Marauders
Snoop, Doggystyle
DJ Quik,Rhythm-al-ism
Pete Rock & C.L. Smooth, The Main Ingredient
Suga Free, Street Gospel
2Pac,Me Against The World
Twinz, Conversation
Black Sheep, Non-Fiction
2Pac, Makaveli
Jay-Z, The Blueprint
Devin, The Dude

^^ Man, we'll get much discussion on here about this topic, because some dudes'll post their favourites, while others'll think those discs are just bullshit, and they'll think "how can this guy like this musical piece of shit"? Kna'mean?
That's the same way with reviews in magazines. Believe me, there are definitely many people that'll agree with some of that reviews, but then there are also many people, that'll disagree (like you).
If you write a review, it'll be a thing of your own opinion, forever! That's the way it is... I for myself don't read reviews very often, because there's a chance of nearly 100% that I think different.
But that's good thread though. We can talk about our personal favourites. I'll ad mine later, can't think of that right now.

totally agree. i just think that most of those albums that are "iconic" like the source says are not reviews, but are for a reason. i mean, do you know anyone that owns 'beanie sigel' or 'made men'? i'm just saying that someone used a very opinion-based forum for some real shady business
-
i mean, do you know anyone that owns 'beanie sigel' or 'made men'?
I bought Beanie's album :-[
After reading that Source review :-[
It's three 'mics'.
At the very most ;)

In my own very personal absolutely subjective opinion:
Nas - Illmatic
Dr. Dre - The Chronic
Mobb Deep - The Infamous
Raekwon - Only Built 4 Cuban Linx
hard to choose a 5th one, but i'ma go with
2pac/Makaveli - Makaveli The Don Killuminati
still, there's some others i "WANt to listen to the whole way through" like "The Low End Theory", "Reasonable Doubt", "Soul Food", "Soul On Ice", "Season Of Da Siccness", "Enter The Wu-Tang", "Doggystyle", "Aquemini"....there's a list of like 15-20 albums that in my opinion deserve 5 Mics, however hardly you judge
-
the source isnt that bad with its ratins y'all...............its made some stupid shit in the past.......specially on the west but it aint as bad as y'all bring it to be
