The film industry is fucked...New Line is now releasing a sequel to "The Mask" (entitled "Son Of The Mask") WITHOUT Jim Carrey...You would think New Line would have learned from their mistakes after "Dumb and Dumberer" flopped so hard, but no, they continue with this outrage...Check out the website, and go see for yourself http://www.sonofthemask.com/ (http://www.sonofthemask.com/)...Possibly one of the worst trailers of all time?
Now if you think that's stupid, wait until you here this.......They're making an "Ace Ventura 3: Return Of The Pet Detective"...BUT GUESS WHAT...YUP! YOU GUESSED IT!! i can see those 2 movies made without jim carrey, lord knows they sucked without him but an ace ventura without the main character....didn't they learn from the batman movies, NEVER fuck with the main character

I can't imagine any of those doing well at the box office. And I agree with what was said above... Ace Ventura with out him would just be disasterous.

The amazing thing, to me, is that there are literally thousands of screenwriters out there begging to get a break with their story. Many of the stories (literally, thousands) are great, original movie ideas; almost any actor, unknown, or known, would jump at the chance to make some of these movies, but the studios have to sign on and take the risk with the cash. Instead, they'd rather try to make a quick buck on bullshit. They have to KNOW ace 3 won't make any money without Carrey. If they'd spend money like that on a legitimately good script, and hire a 6-7 million dollar actor to carry it, they'd make a ton of cash.

dumb and dumber is a comedy classic.....the sequel , rivals gigli as worst movie ever.
the mask.....that movie actually sucks, the only reason to watch it is jim carey's performance, which is brilliant. but take away the only strand of genius , you have pure shit.

REAL wise ideas... ::) Make sequels of movies whose success is entirely based on Jim Carrey's performance and not have Carrey in the sequel anymore... They got to have shit for brains over at New Line Cinema.

Jim Carrey = a very high salary
Another, less known & skillful comedian = a lower salary than Jim Carrey's = savings for the studio
ace ventura = a household name that's going to sell anyway, no matter who's in it = money for the studio
money made from the movie + savings done by using a cheaper actor = even more money for the studio

actually, I dont get why movie studios see the movies they create as money-bringers.
If I were in their position, I'd also consider the gift of creatin something worth fighting for. something they can be confident with, you know... something genius, something with meaning...

It has nothing to do with them not offering Jim Carrey the part, because the movies would obviously make a lot more money with him in it...He just doesn't like playing the same character twice...He was begged to play "Ace Ventura" the second time, and almost didn't even do it...That's why they are forced to make the sequels without him, but if he doesn't wanna play it, why even bother writing up a script?...This is what bothers me about the movie industry today.

Yeah I read somewhere, that Jim got offerd the role in Mask 2 but dint take it. The story this time should be about the north god Loke and his father. Also ive read that the mask gets on a little kid, and his father wants to do something (not sure what, lol)....
Now, this is the first time that i hear about a Ace Ventura 3, and that sounds just plain stupid....
